In the fourth of our spring sport season wrap-ups, we take a look at what happened prior to the close of the campaign and what could have been on the horizon for the ODAC's men's tennis programs.

In the next installment of "Saluting the Class of 2020," the ODAC features its senior student-athletes that competed in men's tennis.

Several ODAC teams and athletes were in action last week before play throughout the NCAA was halted. Those earning weekly honors include (heads, top-bottom, left-right): Jeffrey Snider from Bridgewater baseball, Emily Davis from Eastern Mennonite softball, Brandon Pond from Lynchburg baseball, Megan Scalley from Shenandoah softball, Colin DiSesa from Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse, Alyson Bittinger from SU women's lacrosse, Ruth de Souza from Sweet Briar women's tennis, and Juan Borga from LYN men's tennis.

The Washington and Lee men's tennis team saw its season come to an end with a 5-0 loss to third-ranked Emory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday morning in Atlanta.

Bridgewater College standout Canon Secord earned not one but two major individual honors to headline the 2019 All-ODAC Men's Tennis Awards. Secord received ODAC Player and Rookie of the Year awards from the league's head coaches. Virginia Wesleyan University mentor Marty Perry was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year, and Washington and Lee University's Mitchell Thomas garnered ODAC/Virgina Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete laurels from the conference's sports information directors.

Washington and Lee University is set to represent the ODAC in the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament, as announced by the NCAA on Monday afternoon. This season's national field is comprised of 43 squads from across the country.

The spring championship season is upon us with the outdoor track & field concluding its regular season slate in preparation for next weekend's ODAC championships. Several other sports are closing in on their final contests, with performances showing that the athletes are ready. The Washington and Lee men's tennis team saw its 2018 season come to an end with a 5-1 loss to second-ranked Emory University on Saturday morning in Atlanta.

Marlins standout Graham Wilson and head coach Marty Perry were named the ODAC Player and Coach of the Year, respectively. The Generals Zack Ely garnered ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels, while teammate Michael Holt secured his third straight ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete award.

The Washington and Lee men's tennis team saw its season end in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 5-0 loss to top-ranked Emory University on Saturday. The Eagles swept the doubles and then claimed straight set wins at No. 1 and No. 6 singles to close out the match.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2014-15 ODAC Sportsmanship Teams in each of the 17 winter and spring sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the sixth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship.

The Virginia Wesleyan College athletic department announced the hiring of Martin Perry as the new Director of Men's and Women's Tennis recently. Perry comes to Virginia Wesleyan from Longwood University where he was the head coach of the men's tennis program. He has also led the Bridgewater College tennis programs.

Washington and Lee University collected its 20th and 21st season-ending conference accolades as the ODAC Board of Directors announced its top two individual student-athlete awards on Monday. Generals' track & field athlete Jillian Katterhagen was recognized as the Marjorie Berkley Award recipient, men's tennis player Christopher Hu took home the Harry G. "Doc" Jopson Award.

Following an extensive search, Bridgewater College Director of Athletics Curt Kendall has announced the hiring of Jordon Robinson as the new head coach for the Eagles men’s and women’s tennis teams.

After eight years at Hampden-Sydney College, Murrie Bates will retire from his post as head tennis coach. His teams went 80-47 overall and 52-22 in the ODAC while finishing top two in the ODAC for four straight seasons, including going undefeated at 9-0 in 2010. He led the Tigers to the conference title in 2009, the same year he was named the state coach of the year. He was also named the ODAC Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2010.

The 26th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team saw its season come to an end with a 5-1 loss to 12th-ranked Kenyon in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Duchossois Tennis Center.

The 21st-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team fell to 23rd-ranked North Carolina Wesleyan by a score of 5-3 in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Emory University.

Washington and Lee University will represent the ODAC in both the NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Tennis Team Tournaments, set to begin play May 10-12 in a series of first, second and third round matches. The Generals earned their spots in both tournaments via the ODAC’s automatic bids after winning the conference postseason tourneys.

Washington and Lee standout Hayden White picked up a pair of honors for the second straight year as part of the 2013 ODAC Men's Tennis awards. White was named both the ODAC Player of the Year and the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second straight season. Generals' mentor David Detwiler was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year, while Virginia Wesleyan newcomer Graham Wilson earned the ODAC Rookie of the Year accolade.

The loss dropped the Generals to 16-5 overall. Emory advances to the third round where it will meet either Whitman or North Carolina Wesleyan.

The 20th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team recovered from a 3-0 hole following doubles play to record a 5-3 victory over the University of Texas-Tyler in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Friday afternoon at Emory University. W&L moves on to face host Emory at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

ashington and Lee sophomore Hayden White was eliminated in the Round of 16 at the NCAA Division III Singles Championship on Friday at Pomona-Pitzer. White, ranked seventh in the region, finished his sophomore campaign with a 19-5 overall singles record and a 20-4 doubles mark.

Washington and Lee University will represent the ODAC in the 2011 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Team Tournament set to begin on Friday. The Generals will host a five-team pod and have earned a bye into the second round. Hayden White (pictured) will also play in the individual singles tournament.

Spring Break is in full swing for many schools, with tournaments featuring in several spring sports. A pair of student-athletes were honored with the league's highest honors on Thursday afternoon at the annual ODAC Board of Directors meetings. Rebecca Bradford from VWC was awarded the Marjorie Berkley Award. Fellow senior and H-SC men’s tennis star, William Moss, garnered the Harry G. "Doc" Jopson Award.

Hayden White has had quite a rookie year at Washington and Lee, and his season will continue on Friday as the recently crowned ITA Atlantic South Region Rookie of the Year will be the ODAC’s lone representative at the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships. The event will be played at and hosted by Oberlin College.

In the second round of the NCAA Tournament, Hampden-Sydney fell short of a regional championship appearance as #2 Emory University took a convincing 5-0 victory.

Hampden-Sydney continues its strong postseason play as the Tigers defeated the Transylvania, 5-1, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers came out strong in doubles play, winning two of the three matches.

A pair of ODAC schools prepare to enter the 2009 NCAA Division III Tennis Tournaments this week as the first three rounds of play begin this weekend. Washington and Lee University will play host to five women’s squads on May 8-10 while Hampden-Sydney College travels to Emory University for its NCAA action.

Hampden-Sydney College sophomore standout William Moss notched is second Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men’s tennis Player of the Year award this weekend following a vote by the conference’s coaches. Teammates Rich Pugh and Andrew McLeod were named the Rookie of the Year and ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year, respectively, and H-SC mentor Murrie Bates was tabbed the Coach of the Year.

The 16th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team defeated Hampden-Sydney, 9-0, to claim its 13th-straight ODAC championship. The Generals will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Washington and Lee University will be looking for its 28th Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men’s tennis crown this week as the Generals enter the 2008 postseason tournament as the top seed following an unblemished league regular season record. Hampden-Sydney College holds the second rank while Roanoke College and Bridgewater College fill out the top four seeds, respectively.

Bridgewater College Director of Athletics Curt Kendall has announced the hiring of Conor Smith as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its 2006-07 regional award winners on Monday afternoon. Washington and Lee Men's Tennis Coach David Detwiler and Women's Tennis Coach Cinda Rankin were both named the Atlantic South Region Coach of the Year for Division III. Additionally, senior Ginny Wortham (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) was selected as the recipient of the Division III Atlantic South Region ITA/Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sportsmanship Award.

After finishing on top of the men’s tennis standings for the 11th consecutive time in 2006, Washington & Lee was picked to win its 27th overall ODAC title and make it back to the NCAA tournament in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) 2007 Preseason Poll.
