Eight Athletes to Represent ODAC in NCAA Track Championships

Three-Day Meet Set for May 23-25 at UW-La Crosse

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Eight student-athletes will represent the ODAC at the 2013 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships.  The three day meet, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, will feature five women and three men from league schools competing in nine different events.  Competition is set for May 23-25 at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisc.

Roanoke College four-time All-American, Carmen Graves, is one of two Maroons that will make their way to the Midwest.  The senior will be joined by freshman Alexis Janney.  Graves will compete in the 800-meter run for third straight year.  She finished second in the country in 2012, and enters this year’s final meet ranked fourth at a time of 2:09.31.  Janney will take part in the 400-meter dash.  She opens the event 11th in the country at 56.46 seconds.

Lynchburg College and Washington and Lee University will feature one male and one female athlete each.  The Hornets send junior Rachad Davis and senior Leah Heal to Wisconsin.  Davis will take part in the 400-meter hurdles, entering as the 15th-ranked runner with a time of 53.05 seconds.  Heal will compete in the javelin.  The ODAC Championship record-holder in the event, she occupies the 19th-rated slot at 41.43 meters (135’ 11”).

Junior Zander Tallman and sophomore Janey Fugate comprise the Generals’ duo in the championships.  Tallman will compete in the 400-meter dash for the second straight season.  He finished 11th in 2012, but comes into this year’s event ranked 14th with a time of 47.93 seconds.  Fugate makes her NCAA championship debut in the 400-meter hurdles, in which she’s rated 18th at 1:02.45.

Bridgewater College senior Olivia Mills is set to compete in the 5,000-meter run for the second time in as many years.  She placed 10th in the event in 2012, just missing out on All-American status.  She comes into the 2013 race slotted 15th with a time of 17:03.83.

Virginia Wesleyan College junior Randy Lott is set to compete in two events.  Lott, making his first NCAA final meet appearance, will take part in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.  He enters the shorter race tied for the eighth-fastest time at 10.61 seconds, and is tied for 18th in the longer sprint at 21.69 seconds.
