NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --- Randolph-Macon junior Shelby Hill dropped a single over the second baseman's head to bring around Candace Whittemore in the eighth inning and walk-off with a 4-3 victory over Christopher Newport University in game two of the NCAA Super Regional Round at CNU. The win forces a third and deciding game later this afternoon.

The 11th-ranked Captains scored twice in the top of the first inning. R-MC had scored earlier in the game as sophomore Kaitlyn Deeter (Roanoke, Va. / Lord Botetourt) singled down the left field line to bring in senior Kerstin Roth (Yorktown, Va. / Grafton). The bats went quiet for both teams until CNU scored again in the top of the fourth, extending its lead to 3-1.

But R-MC scored in consecutive innings. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Roth came home as senior Savannah Wood (Tappahannock, Va. / Essex) tallied a sacrifice fly to left field. Then in the bottom of the sixth inning, junior Sami Davidson (Stafford, Va. / Brooke Point) grounded out, but scored sophomore Kamryn Steinruck (Glen Allen, Va. / Glen Allen). Hill's hit came in the bottom of the eighth after CNU issued three walks to R-MC batters.

The Yellow Jackets and the Captains will decide the Super Regional Champion around 4:30 PM. R-MC and CNU have each won two games against one another this season.
