White, a senior from Chesapeake, Va., had at least one hit and recorded six multi-hit games in the Marlins 8-0 that included a sweep of league-leading Lynchburg College, the first sweep of the Hornets by an ODAC team since 2007. White, who is riding a nine-game hitting streak, hit at a .556 clip during the week, recording a 3-for-3 game against the University of Mary Washington. She hit 4-for-6 and scored three runs in the sweep of Lynchburg. She backed her offense with alert defensive play and recorded four putouts and 22 assists during the eight game stretch. White tops the VWC hitting charts with a .456 season average, the fourth highest in VWC history.
Softball Honor Roll
Hillary Rees, Bridgewater, Sophomore - 2nd Base
Rees came out of her recent slump in a big way with a .563
week at the plate for the Eagles. Rees was 9-of-17 with seven runs
scored, eight RBI, and a pair of triples to go along with three
walks and four stolen bases. On the week, the sophomore posted an
.875 slugging percentage to go along with a .632 on-base
percentage. In the field, Rees turned in a perfect 1.000 field
percentage.
Lisa Lee, Eastern Mennonite, Sophomore - Pitcher/3B
Lee was the lone Eastern Mennonite batter to get a hit in
every game this week, as she finished 7-12 with a .583 batting
average. The sophomore scored three runs and drove in
another, to go along with her fifth stolen base of the season
during the Royals’ 2-2 week. Lee went 4-6 with three
runs and an RBI in Saturday’s doubleheader against Emory
& Henry, and had three multi-hit games this week. For the
season, she is among the ODAC’s leaders with a .411 batting
average.
Julie Langseth, Guilford, Junior - Infield
Langseth hit .524 with two homers, four doubles and eight
RBI in the Quakers’ 3-3 week… extended her hitting
streak to eight games… went 6-8 with two homers, two doubles
and seven RBI in an ODAC sweep at Sweet Briar… went 2-3 with
a double in Guilford’s 2-0 win over Meredith… doubled
and scored twice in an 8-7 loss to Randolph-Macon… moved
into third place on Guilford’s career home runs list (11) and
sixth with 61 RBI.
Lauren Duguay, Lynchburg, Senior - Outfield
Duguay hit .625 last week and scored a team-high five runs
scored. She collected 10 hits in 16 at bats, recording a
quartet of two-hit contests. She also stole three
bases in as many attempts.
Leigh Sexton, Randolph, Sophomore - Shortstop
Sexton was the WildCats best hitter during a 2-2 week of
play batting .545 with five doubles and one home run. She went
2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI in the 15-6 win against Mary
Baldwin, then followed that performance going 2-for-2 with two more
doubles in the 5-2 victory in game two with the Fighting
Squirrels.
Laura Bauer, Randolph-Macon, Sophomore - 1st Base
Bauer went 9-for-21 (.429) with four homers, a double and
eight runs batted in a 4-2 week for the Yellow Jackets. She
also crossed the plate seven times. She went 3-for-7 in a
sweep of Emory & Henry, connecting on a pair of homers on the
way to five RBI.
Leona Rainey, Roanoke, Freshman - Outfield
Rainey batted .636 (7-for-11) with five runs, four RBI and
three stolen bases leading the Maroons to a 4-0 record last
week. They swept both Eastern Mennonite and Sweet Briar to
move into a tie for second in the latest ODAC standings.
Rainey had three two-hit games, posting a 4-for-5 weekend against
the Vixens.
