Beard, a junior from Williamsport, Md., led the Jackets to an 8-1 win over Southern Virginia Thursday afternoon.  The junior tossed a complete game, allowing just one earned run while striking out five to improve to 7-3 on the season.  She scattered 11 hits in the effort, but did not surrender a free pass.

Jessica Burcham, Guilford, Senior
Burcham went 1-1 with a 3.82 ERA and seven strikeouts in two appearances last week… earned the win in game one against Randolph by lasting all nine innings in the Quakers’ 5-4 win… her nine innings pitched mark the second-longest stint in school history… gave up two earned runs in the game and fanned six… earned her team-leading eighth win of the season… took the loss in game two with two innings of relief.
