Derr, a junior from Cornelius, N.C., appeared three times last week including two starts against nationally ranked competition. Derr opened her season against nationally 15th-ranked Birmingham Southern College. She twirled a two-hit shutout against the Panthers in a full 7.0 frames of work. She walked four and fanned 14 batters including six of the first nine batters after striking out the side in the bottom of the first. Derr then work 1.0 frames of relief against Mt. St. Joseph, giving up three unearned runs in a 7-4 setback. Derr's last appearance marked her second start of the season, this time against nationally 24th-ranked Depauw University. She gave up three runs on six hits with two walks and seven punchouts in her second full shift of the week. After giving up two runs in the first, she surrendered just two hits over the next five innings.
