FOREST, Va. --- Swimming was the first sport to see member schools compete and capture ODAC championship trophies in 2020-21, and now it is the first sport to recognize all-conference honors with the announcement of the 2021 All-ODAC Swimming Awards.
Swimming All-ODAC awards are generated from competition at the ODAC championships. Only individual events are considered when creating the honors lists. Those finishing first or second in an event earn All-ODAC First Team laurels. Third and fourth place finishers are recognized as All-ODAC Second Team members, and swimmers that chime in fifth and sixth receive All-ODAC Third Team accolades. A swimmer can only earn one all-conference honor, with their placement represented by their highest finish in an event at the championship.

In addition to the special awards announced on Sunday (and posted below), the conference's athletic communications personnel finalized the nomination and voting process for the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Awards. This season's women's honoree is Katie Shoaf from Ferrum College, while Spencer Swam from Lynchburg earned the men's scholar-athlete award.
Shoaf, a senior from Advance, N.C., maintains a 3.98 grade point average as an environmental science major with a minor in agricultural science. She is a member of Ferrum's Boone Honors Program and is the Vice President of the Panther Christian Athletes Club. She is also the swimming team's representative on Ferrum's SAAC. The Panthers' team captain holds multiple school records and led FC at the 2021 ODAC championships by racking up 23 points.
Swam, a junior from Greencastle, Pa., boasts a 3.97 GPA as a business administration and financial economics double-major. The perennial dean's list honoree is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma honor society, serves as a resident adviser, and has competed on Lynchburg's cross country and track & field teams. In the pool, Swam helped the Hornets finish as runners-up in this season's ODAC championships with personal-best swims in the 400-IM (7th), 200-breaststroke (9th) and 200-IM (9th).
