Bateman, a first-year from Fredericksburg, Va., picks up his second weekly award of the season after competing in seven events and posting six ODAC season-best times in helping Washington and Lee to fourth place among nine teams in a strong field at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational in Lancaster, Pa. Bateman finished third in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:57.05, which is tops in the ODAC and 97th in NCAA Division III. He finished seventh in the 50-yard freestyle in 0:21.61, but his preliminary time of 0:21.31 is the top time in the conference and slots 84th in the country. Bateman also swam a time trial in the 100-yard butterfly, posted the league's best mark at 0:51.01. That ranks 76th in the nation. He was also involved in four relays each of which placed fifth in the meet. Three of the final times rank atop the league lists including the 400-yard medley (3:28.78), 200-yard freestyle (1:25.59) and 400-yard freestyle (3:09.85) units. The Generals 200-yard medley time of 1:34.67 is second in the conference. Those relay times slot 24th, 24th, 27th, and 34th in Division III, respectively.
