VWC’s Dunmyer and Seipp, W&L’s Bolton Take Home Honors
FOREST, Va. --- Guilford College forward Gabby
Oglesby headlines the 2012 All-ODAC Women’s Basketball Team
as the Quakers’ sophomore was tabbed the ODAC Player of the
Year in a vote of the league’s coaches. Virginia
Wesleyan College took home two major awards as head coach Stephany
Dunmyer was named the ODAC Coach of the Year and freshman guard
Sarah Seipp earned the ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades.
Washington and Lee University forward Becca Bolton was selected as
the 2012 ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the
Year.
Hailing from Winston-Salem, N.C., Oglesby has become an imposing
figure in the post in just her second year at Guilford.
Heading into the ODAC Women’s Basketball Tournament, Oglesby
is fourth in the league in scoring at 14.7 points per game and
sixth in rebounding at 7.7 boards per contest. She’s
efficient at the offensive end, currently ranking third in field
goal percentage (50.9 % on 144-of-283 shooting), but she makes her
headlines on the defensive end as the leads the ODAC in blocked
shots with 59. Oglesby has already become the career blocked
shots leader in Guilford history with 118 rejections in her first
52 games. She is the first Quakers’ player of the year
since Arden Miller in 2000.
Dunmyer’s top coaching accolade marks the third of her
career, having previously won the award in 2006 and 2008. Now
in her ninth year at VWC, Dunmyer led her team to 20 wins this
season and tied the school record for most ODAC victories
(17). She has won 144 career games to-date, and leads her
top-seeded Marlins in search of their first-ever ODAC title.
Seipp has made an immediate impact for the Marlins this
season. The Gaithersburg, Md. native is currently pouring in
14.8 points per game, which is tied for the third-best effort in
the conference. Seipp has scored double digits in 22 games,
including the last 18-straight, and has recorded a season-high 27
points on two different occasions. She is also third in the
league in steals (66) and free throws made (96).
Bolton’s recognition as the league’s
top-scholar-athlete marks the second-straight for the senior at
Washington and Lee. The Pittsboro, N.C. native sports a 3.685
grade point average as a Biology and Environmental Studies
major. On the court, Bolton is recording 14.2 points and 9.2
rebounds per outing, which is second-best in the conference.
