  • WildCats Tab Kendall to Lead Women's Basketball Program
    May 05, 2016
    The Randolph College athletic department is pleased to announce Andrea Kendall as the next head coach of its women's basketball team. Kendall, who replaces former six-year mentor Allison Nichols, was the head coach at Centenary College (N.J.) last season. She is no stranger to the ODAC, having previously served three seasons as an assistant at Emory & Henry College.
  • Guilford's Season Ends with NCAA Tournament Loss to Thomas More

    Reigning national player of the year Sydney Moss totaled a game-high 26 points, plus nine rebounds and eight assists, in top-ranked Thomas More College's 92-40 win over Guilford College in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament Saturday.
  • Guilford Rallies Past Mount Union in NCAA Tournament Opener

    Guilford College rallied from a 12-point second-quarter deficit for a 61-57 win over the University of Mount Union Friday night in a first-round NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament game. Guilford outscored the Purple Raiders, 20-12, in the fourth quarter and closed the game on an 11-3 run.
  • Rally Falls Short as Hornets Eliminated by Birmingham-Southern

    A late rally fell short Friday as the Lynchburg College women's basketball team was defeated by Birmingham-Southern University 56-50 In the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, hosted by Maryville College. It was the first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history for the Hornets.
  • Guilford, Lynchburg Prepared for NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament

    For Lynchburg College, it was a done deal that the Hornets would enter the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament after they hoisted the program's first-ever ODAC championship trophy. But for Guilford College, the good news came on Monday as the top two seeds in the conference postseason are set to represent themselves and the ODAC on the national stage.
  • Salem Rotary Club Announces Finalists for 2016 Jostens Trophy

    The 2016 Jostens Trophy timeline reached a benchmark in its annual process with the announcement of the finalists by the members of the Salem (Va.) Rotary Club on Tuesday. Twenty student-athletes -- 10 men and 10 women -- remain in the running for this season's honors from a record number of candidates in the original pool. The Salem Rotary Club is responsible for the initial review of nominations and narrowed the collection of candidates over the past two weeks.
  • EMU's Rheinheimer Named Academic All-American of the Year by CoSIDA

    Eastern Mennonite University forward Jess Rheinheimer continues to pull in honors, this time earning the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Academic All-American of the Year, as selected by CoSIDA. This is the second year Rheinheimer has earned Academic All-America distinction, but she's not alone in the ODAC this season. Roanoke College forward Cary Beahm was tabbed to the Academic All-America Third Team.
  • Lynchburg's Naumann Named USBWA National Player of the Week

    Lynchburg College's Caroline Naumann was named the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III Women's Basketball National Player of the Week Tuesday for her efforts last week.
  • Lynchburg Claims Program's First ODAC Women's Basketball Title

    The Lynchburg College women's basketball team defeated Guilford College 62-55 Sunday to take home the 2016 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) title, the first conference crown in school history. Sophomore forward Caroline Naumann earned tournament Most Outstanding Performer honors, racking up double-doubles in each of the three Hornet tournament wins.
  • EMU's Rheinheimer, GC's Flamini Lead ODAC Women's Basketball Awards

    Eastern Mennonite forward Jess Rheinheimer collected two major honors from the ODAC head coaches for the second straight year, headlining the ODAC women's basketball awards as the ODAC Player of the Year and the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete. Guilford mentor Stephanie Flamini was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year, while Emory & Henry guard Taylor Blevins picked up ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels.

    Several teams made significant moves to secure or improve their position in the final ODAC women's basketball standings on Saturday afternoon, setting the stage for the upcoming ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament. Lynchburg College avoided a tied scenario with Guilford College thanks to its win on the final day, locking up the #1 seed in the conference postseason.

  • LC's Goldsmith Tabbed 'Hero of the Week' by Hero Sports

    Lynchburg College senior point guard Sammi Goldsmith was tabbed the "Hero of the Week" by Hero Sports News. She garnered 82-percent of the vote (2,140-of-2,606) -- the most for a Division III athlete -- for her school-record 14-assist performance in the Hornets' win over Meredith on January 2.

  • Lynchburg Heads ODAC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll

    Four teams earned first place consideration in the 2015 ODAC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll, but for the second straight year Lynchburg heads the list after receiving six first place votes towards 114 total points. Eastern Mennonite picked up three top nods and 106 total points, while Randolph-Macon secured 92 tallies including one first place vote. Washington and Lee sits fourth with 89 points and the remaining two top votes.
  • Hollins Selects Logan as New Women's Basketball Head Coach

    Hollins University Athletic Director Bill Mannino announces the hiring of Jenny Logan as the new head basketball coach. Logan comes to Hollins with a rich ODAC pedigree, having been a four year player at Bridgewater College before serving as an assistant basketball coach at Lynchburg College.
