Randolph-Macon's Williams Named D3hoops.com All-American

FOREST, Va. --- Randolph-Macon College center Kelly Williams put the cherry on top of an impressive career and comeback story from a season-ending injury a year ago as she was named an All-American by D3hoops.com earlier this week. Williams, who was named to the All-America Fourth Team, is the lone ODAC representative on the pundit's four squads plus honorable mention list.

A total of 25 student-athletes were honored as D3hoops.com All-Americans with Erica DeCandido from Tufts University earning Player of the Year laurels. Brian Morehouse from Hope College earned Coach of the Year recognition, while Aaliyah Hampton from Berea College was tabbed the Rookie of the Year.

Williams is one of three ODAC athletes to earn distinction on the D3hoops.com All-South Region Teams. Williams picked up a first team nod, while Emory & Henry College's duo of Sydney McKinney and Peyton Williams were selected to the third team. Both were All-ODAC First Team choices, while Peyton Williams was Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

R-MC's Williams, a senior from Garysburg, N.C., will graduate having left indelible marks on both ODAC and Yellow Jackets women's basketball. This season, she worked her way back into All-America consideration by averaging 17.5 points and 12.0 rebounds, both tops in the ODAC. She also led the league in field goals made (174-of-334), free throws made (134-of-192), blocked shots (68), total points (491), and all rebounding categories -- offensive (119), defensive (216), total (335). A finalist for the 2020 Jostens Trophy, Williams finished second in NCAA Division III with 22 doubles.

Williams' awards are numerous over four seasons in Ashland. In addition to being a two-time ODAC Player of the Year and three-time All-ODAC First Team choice, Williams earned ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year laurels on the way to being tabbed an Academic All-American for a second time this year. This is the third time she has picked up major All-American honors after earning D3hoops.com and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) recognition following a banner 2017-18 campaign that saw her average 25.4 points, 18.2 rebounds, and 4.1 blocked shots while collecting a Division III-best 28 double-doubles in 29 games played. That was one off the Division's single-season record.

Williams ends her career with her name besides several ODAC records. Those include:

  • single-season points - 736 (2017-28)
  • individual-game field goals made - 18 (vs. GC on 2/10/18)
  • single-season field goals made - 269 (2017-18)
  • single-season free throws made - 197 (2017-18)
  • single-season free throws attempted - 304 (2017-18)
  • single-season rebounds- 527 (2017-18)
  • career rebounds - 1,395
  • single-season rebounding average - 18.2 (2017-18)
  • career rebounding average - 14.5

Williams is tied for first in NCAA Division III history with Kathryn Stockbower (2008-11) from Swarthmore College with 83 double-doubles in 96 career games played.
