2015-16 Women's Basketball Players of the Week

  • Emma Redding, Washington and Lee, So., Forward
    February 22, 2016
    Redding, a sophomore from Allentown, Pa., proved a strong two-way player last week as she helped the Generals leap-frog Eastern Mennonite to gain the fourth seed and a first round bye in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. Redding kicked off her week with 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists and five blocked shots in a 67-42 triumph at Shenandoah. She was 5-of-6 from the field, a trend that would continue on into her second game. In that contest, Redding was 8-of-9 shooting twoards 18 points with six rebounds, an assist, a steal, and three more blocked shots in a 73-56 victory over EMU. Overally, Redding shot 86.7-percent (13-of-15) from the field for the week. For the season, she's averaging 8.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. She's second in the ODAC with 31 blocked shots, and is fifth in field goal shooting (85-of-161) at 52.8-percent.
  • Katie Anderson, Randolph-Macon, Sr., Forward

    Anderson, a senior from Beaverdam, Va., posted three double-doubles last week as she helped the Yellow Jackets to a 3-0 showing, including a pair of conference victories. Anderson averaged 28.0 points and 12.3 rebounds in increasing her ODAC-best double-doubles total to 16. She started with 27 points and 15 rebounds in a 72-71 win over Virginia Wesleyan. She added two assists, two steals, and a blocked shot. R-MC then defeated Gallaudet, 73-57, in a none-conference showdown. Anderson posted 26 points, two assists, three steals, a blocked shot, and 12 rebounds, leaving her just two boards short of the Randolph-Macon career record. She got those rebounds and then some in the Yellow Jackets 90-66 victory over Randolph as she pulled down 10 boards to go with a career-high 31 points. She chipped in two assists, two steals and a pair of blocked shots. For the season, Anderson leads the ODAC in total points (448), scoring (20.4 ppg), and all rebounding categories (12.5 rpg, 275 total rebs, 201 def., 74 off.). She is also first in free throws made (124), fourth in free throw shooting (80.5%), and second in field goals made (162). She is 162-of-319 from the field (50.8%), good for sixth in the ODAC.
  • Taylor Blevins, Emory & Henry, Fr., Guard

    Blevins, a freshman from Abingdon, Va., continued her strong rookie campaign in helping the Wasps to a pair of ODAC wins to secure third place in the conference standings. Blevins started her with the first of two double-doubles with 26 points and 15 rebounds in a 71-48 win at Hollins. She was 10-of-13 from the field and added three assists to her stat line. Blevins followed with that with 19 points and 14 boards against Randolph. She again shot well, going 6-of-10 from the field and 7-of-9 from the foul line. She chipped in two assists and two steals in addition to increasing her season double-double total to eight, which is tied for third in the ODAC. Blevins, who averages 13.0 points per game, is second in the ODAC in rebounding at 9.5 boards per contest. She is also second in field goal shooting (100-of-170, 58.8%), third in total rebounds (189) and ninth in blocked shots (14).

    Anderson, a senior from Beaverdam, Va., picks up her second weekly honor of the season after posting a pair of double-doubles that included a record-breaking performance. The record came in the Yellow Jackets second game of the week, an 80-54 triumph over Hollins. In addition to scoring 19 points on 8-of-11 from the field, Anderson set a new conference standard with 28 rebounds, breaking the former record set by Randolph-Macon Woman's College's Jennifer Prewitt in 2004. It stands as the fourth-most rebounds in a single game in NCAA Division III this season. She added four assists, two steals and a blocked shot to her stat line against Hollins. Earlier in the week, Anderson scored 15 points to go with 10 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocked shots in a setback at Randolph College. For the seaosn, Anderson leads the ODAC in rebounding average (12.9), total rebounds (219) and double-doubles (12). She's second in the ODAC in scoring (19.4 ppg) and offensive rebounds (60), and third in total points (329).
  • Anais Weatherly, Guilford, Jr., Forward
    January 25, 2016
    Weatherly, a junior from Winston-Salem, N.C., picks up her second weekly honor of the season after leading the Quakers to a pair of victories to extend their winning streak to four-straight. Weatherly opened with her ninth double-double of the season in a 70-62 win at Roanoke. He posted 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting, while pulling down 11 rebounds, dishing out two assists, and coming away with seven steals. The next day, Weatherly again scored 23 points, this time on 9-of-16 from the field. She added nine boards, an assist and a steal. On the season, Weatherly sixth in the ODAC at 16.0 points per game and fifth with 256 total ponits scored. She leads the ODAC in steals (53) and offensive rebounds (57), is second in total rebounding (9.8 rpg) and double-doubles, and fourth in field goals made (111).
  • Cassidy Burkholder, Bridgewater, Sr., Guard

    Burkholder, a senior from Bridgewater, Va., helped the Eagles to a 1-1 week as she averaged a double-double for the second straight week and shot 55.6-percent from the field. She opened with 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting to go with 10 rebounds in Bridgewater's 84-78 triumph at Virginia Wesleyan. she added five assists and a pair of steals to her stat line. Burkholder followed with 12 points and 11 rebounds in the Eagles 62-49 setback at Lynchburg. She chipped in an assist, a steal and a blocked shot. Her two double-doubles on the week give her three for the season. Burkholder is currently ranked in the top-10 in the ODAC eight major categories -- scoring (14.8 ppg), rebounding (7.7 rpg), steals (37), assists (57), assist-to-turnover ratio (2.7), free throws made (39), field goals made (80) and field goal percentage (48.8%).
  • Jess Rheinheimer, Eastern Mennonite, Sr., Forward
    January 11, 2016
    Rheinheimer, a senior from Manheim, Pa., helped the Royals to a pair of ODAC wins last week, including a double-overtime thriller over crosstown rival Bridgewater. Rheinheimer dropped in 35 points against the Eagles, adding in 12 rebounds, three assists, and an ODAC weekly-high four blocked shots in EMU's 112-107 win over BC. The 35 points are the second-most scored in the ODAC this season. She did so on 11-of-19 from the field and 10-of-10 from the foul line including 6-of-6 in the second extra period to ice the game. Rheinheimer followed that with 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting in the Royals 66-51 victory at Guilford. She added four rebounds and three assists to her stat line. For the season, Rheinheimer leads the ODAC in overall points scored (249) and points per game (20.8). She's also tops in the league in free throw shooting (40-46, 87.0%).
  • Cary Beahm, Roanoke, Jr., Forward

    Beahm, a junior from Dendron, Va., helped the Maroons to a pair of victories at the Susan Dunagan Classic to run their current winning streak to four straight contests. Beahm, who was named the Most Outstanding Player (MOP) of the event, averaged 25.0 points and 9.0 rebounds while shooting 65.6-percent over the two contests. She opened with 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting and 4-of-5 from the line in a 78-58 win over Swarthmore. She added six rebounds, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot. Beahm followed that with a 12-of-16 showing from the field and 4-of-4 from the stripe towards 28 points in a 73-46 triumph over Wesleyan (Ga.). She registered 12 rebounds -- including four offensive -- for her second double-double of the year. She also handed out three assists and posted a steal and a blocked shot. For the season, Beahm is fourth in the ODAC in both overall points scored (174) and points per game (19.3). She is second in the league in field goal percentage (70-of-122; 57.4%), having made the third-most field goals.
  • Chaney Forbush, Lynchburg, Sr., Forward

    Forbush, a senior from Clifton, Va., led the Hornets to a 71-60 triumph at Averett last week. Lynchburg's all-conference power forward was 7-of-12 from the field and 3-of-3 from the stripe in notching 17 points to go with 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Three of her boards came via the offensive glass, a category in which she ranks seventh in the league (25). She also added an assist and a steal. For the season, Forbush is averaging 12.7 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per contest. She's third in the ODAC with 11 blocked shots.
  • Shannon Kuhn, Shenandoah, Fr. Guard

    Kuhn, a freshman from East Berlin, Pa., put together a strong week in helping Shenandoah to a 1-1 showing against non-conference competition. She opened with 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field in a 72-62 setback at Gettysburg. She buried 3-of-6 from deep and added a game-best eight rebounds with five coming via the offensive glass. Kuhn then posted a game-high 18 points in the Hornets 52-47 triumph over St. Mary's (Md.). She was 6-of-12 from teh field, hitting two more three-pointers and going 4-of-5 from the foul line. She added five rebounds and a pair of assists. For the season, Kuhn leads Shenandoah at 15.0 points per game, which ranks ninth in the league. Her 46.2-percent (18-of-39) clip from beyond the arc is third in the ODAC.
  • Lauren Ramsey, Guilford, So., Forward

    Ramsey, a sophomore from Lexington, N.C., put together a strong week in leading the Quakers to a pair of victories, including a tight 69-67 win over Bridgewater. In that game, Ramsey registered 18 points on 8-of-18 from the field. She beat the offensive glass for five of her eight boards. She added two assists and a pair of steals. In a 75-48 win over William Peace, Ramsey dropped in 16 points on 7-of-13 from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. She added six assists and five more offensive rebounds to go with a pair of steals. Ramsey is averaging 12.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Her 22 assists are seventh in the league.
  • Hannah Livermon, Randolph-Macon, Sr., Guard

    Livermon, a senior from Powhatan, Va., put together arguably the best game of her career to lead Randolph-Macon to an 88-70 win over Washington and Lee in the Yellow Jackets' ODAC opening. Livermon was 15-of-18 from the field on the way to a new personal-best 35 points, which also marks the most for a conference player so far this season. She buried 4-of-6 from deep and converted her only foul shot of the game. In the first half alone, Livermon was 9-of-10 from the field towards 22 points. She added three rebounds, three assists, a steal and two blocked shots to her stat line. Livermon currently leads the ODAC in scoring (22.5 ppg) and three-pointers (23-of-53), which she shoots at an ODAC fifth-best 43.4-percent.
  • Anais Weatherly, Guilford, Jr., Forward
    November 23, 2015
    Weatherly, a junior from Winston-Salem, N.C., helped the Quakers to a 2-1 week that including competition against a pair of NCAA tournament qualifiers from last season. Weatherly averaged 15.3 points per game and shot 48.7-percent from the field in collecting a double-double and a near triple-double. She hit a career-high six three-pointers as part of a 9-for-14 shooting day towards 24 points in a 67-56 win at Greensboro. She added 10 rebounds, three steals and an assist. Weatherly came back with her second straight double-double in a 69-61 win over Denison, falling one steal shy of a rare triple-double. She posted 14 points with 11 rebounds, nine steals and an assist. She capped her week with eight points, five rebounds, four assists and three more steals in a 65-64 last-second loss to Stevens Institute of Technology. Weatherly currently leads the ODAC in steals (15), is second in rebounding (9.8 rpg) and eighth in scoring (15.8 ppg).

    Anderson, a senior from Beaverdam, Va., was named the Most Outstanding Player at the R-MC Tip-Off Classic after posting a pair of doubles in the Yellow Jackets 2-0 showing. In a 79-75 triumph over Catholic, Anderson went for 26 points and 12 rebounds. She followed up an 8-for-19 field goal day with a 10-of-12 showing from the stripe. She added a pair of assists, five steals and two blockd shots. The reigning ODAC rebounding champion grabbed 17 boards in a 72-67 win over Mt. St. Vincent. She added 17 points with two assists and two steals. Anderson has registered double figures in rebounds in five straight games dating back to last season.
