  • Benedetti Named IWLCA All-American
    May 24, 2012
    Washington and Lee's Christina Benedetti was selected as a Second Team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). The Generals' senior, who also garnered ODAC Player of the Year honors earlier this month, heads a list of nine ODAC players that earned recognition on the All-Chesapeake Region Teams.

    Washington and Lee's Christina Benedetti headlines the 2012 All-ODAC Women's Lacrosse Teams as she was named Player of the Year. Guilford's Matthew Grosso earned Coach of the Year accolades, and Roanoke's Darragh Evarts was tabbed the Rookie of the Year. Randolph-Macon's Rachel Johnsen was named the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete.
  • Generals Fall to UMW in NCAA Play

    Mary Washington scored the first nine goals of the second half to produce a 16-8 victory over Washington and Lee in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at the Battleground Athletic Complex. W&L season comes to a close with a 15-5 overall record, having won its 13th ODAC title.

    Washington and Lee University, fresh off a 20-5 win over Roanoke College in the ODAC title game, learned its position in the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday evening. The Generals, ranked 15th in the latest IWLCA (www.iwlca.org) poll, will meet #11 University of Mary Washington in the first round.
  • W&L Wins ODAC Women's Lacrosse Title

    The 15th-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team defeated Roanoke, 20-5, to secure its ODAC-record 13th women's lax conference title. This year's championship is the third straight for W&L. The Generals earn the ODAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament. That field will be announced live on Sunday night at 9:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.

  • ODAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament Set

    Washington and Lee enters the 2012 ODAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament as the top seed for the third straight season following the conclusion of the 2012 conference regular season schedule on Monday afternoon. The Generals were the only team to earn its seeding outright as a pair of three-way ties were broken to determine the rest of the six-team field.

  • Generals Tabbed in Women's Lacrosse Poll

    Washington and Lee University earned seven first place votes and 79 total points as the Generals were tabbed atop the 2012 ODAC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll. Lynchburg College received two top nods on the way to 73 tallies. Roanoke College and Virginia Wesleyan College each collected 62 points to tie for third, but the Marlins also garnered one first place vote.
  • Sweet Briar Tabs Preston to Lacrosse Post

    Sweet Briar recently announced the hiring of Eboni Preston as the new women's lacrosse head coach, beginning in July. Preston, who will also serve as a lecturer in the PE department and as the assistant facilities director, has coached at Endicott and Emerson Colleges, as well as with the New England Select Lacrosse League for Girls.
