    The Guilford College athletics department announces Jordan (Clodfelter) Bowers '08 as the new women's lacrosse head coach.
  • Roanoke Takes Gettysburg to OT, Falls in NCAA Thriller
    May 15, 2022
    After opening the 2022 NCAA Tournament with a big win, Roanoke would face the #4 team in the nation on their home field on Sunday. The Maroons faced Gettysburg with the winner advancing to the round of 16. The Maroons started off with a 3-1 first quarter and followed it up with another three-goal, second, period to take a 6-3 advantage into the half. Gettysburg closed to within a single goal, 7-6, heading into the final frame. Roanoke scored to start the fourth to make it 8-6, however, the home standing Bullets closed the game on a 2-0 run and sent the NCAA second round matchup into overtime. With 2:40 left in the first extra period, Gettysburg got free in the Roanoke zone and ended the tie and the game, 9-8.

    The fifth-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team posted a 21-0 shutout win over Transylvania in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship on Sunday.
  • Maroons Cruise to NCAA Opening Win Over Bryn Athyn

    The Roanoke College women's lacrosse team made the trip to Gettysburg to open their bid to return to Kerr Stadium in late May for the Final Four of the 2022 NCAA DIII Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The first hurdle for the Maroons would be the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Champions from Bryn Athyn. Roanoke raced out to a 10-0 advantage after one quarter of play and cruised the rest of the way, picking up a 23-4 win and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
  • ODAC Announces 2022 All-ODAC Women's Lacrosse Awards

    Washington and Lee University, winners of 12 straight ODAC titles, earned an ODAC-best 10 all-conference honors plus two special individual awards to headline the 2022 All-ODAC Women's Lacrosse Awards. Roanoke College attacker Lilly Blair garnered a pair of showcase awards as she was named the ODAC Offensive Player of the Year by the league's head coaches and the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the conference's athletic communications personnel. Generals defender Eugenie Rovegno collected ODAC Defensive Player of the Year plaudits, while W&L mentor Brooke O'Brien earned ODAC Coach of the Year recognition. Randolph-Macon College attacker Rianna Lowery received ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels.
  • Generals Joined by Maroons in NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament Field

    The ODAC's representation in NCAA lacrosse tournaments grew to five teams on Monday with the announcement of 2022 Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament bracket. Conference champion Washington and Lee University will be joined by at-large choice Roanoke College in the 46-team field.

    Washington and Lee University defeated Roanoke College, 11-5, on Sunday afternoon on Watt Field to earn the program's 12th straight and 22nd overall ODAC women's lacrosse title.

    Washington and Lee University increased its ODAC regular season unbeaten streak to nine seasons as the fifth-ranked Generals posted an 8-0 league mark on the way to securing the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The #1 billing also affords the Generals hosting duties for the conference semifinal and championship rounds. They along with second-seeded Roanoke earn byes into the semifinals in the seven-team field.

  • Washington and Lee Headlines ODAC Women's Lacrosse Poll

    Washington and Lee University has won each of the past 11 ODAC women's lacrosse championships and 17-of-18 honored since 2003. Armed with a roster that features nine returning starters -- each of whom earned All-ODAC distinction -- it is clear why the Generals were tabbed atop the ODAC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll as favorites to hoist yet another trophy in May. The Generals earned 81 total points powered by nine first place votes from the league's head coaches. Roanoke College, runner-up last season following their first appearance in a title game since 2012, picked up the remaining top nod to rank second with 69 markers. Shenandoah University is close at the Maroons heels with 65 tallies to round out the top-three.

    ODAC men's and women's golfers continue to shine through six weeks of the fall season, many times leading to personal and team records being set (and sometimes reset). That trend continued over the past seven days with strong individual and squad showings over three total events. This week's ODAC Golfers of the Week showed that quality with Washington and Lee's Pierce Robinson picking up his second straight honor with a top-10 showing in a strong national field and Bridgewater's Sophia Martone earning her first weekly award after claiming her first collegiate medal in record fashion.

    With the start of the 2021-22 academic and athletic campaigns quickly approaching, ODAC members and their student-athletes continue to haul in major postseason honors from the 2020-21 season. Conference student-athlete distinction and influence extends well beyond their athletic arenas with several taking home Academic All-America recognition from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
  • Roanoke's Schwartz Resigns, Tamburello Named Women's Lax Interim Head Coach

    Women’s Lacrosse head coach Mary Schwartz has announced her resignation from Roanoke College and her position with the women’s lacrosse program. The announcement was made by Director of Athletics Scott Allison and at the same time, Allison is pleased to announce that Zach Tamburello has been named interim head coach.
