  • LC's Sadowski, VWC's Edelman Named NSCAA All-Americans

    Lynchburg College defender Rachel Sadowski and Virginia Wesleyan College forward Jessica Edelman were recognized as NSCAA All-Americans earlier this week. Sadowski garnered a spot on the first team, while Edelman was tabbed to the second team. This is first All-American honor for Sadowski and the second for Edelman.
  • ODAC/StellarOne Fall Sportsmanship Teams Announced

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2012 ODAC/StellarOne Sportsmanship Teams in each of seven fall sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the fourth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship.
  • Lynchburg Falls to Johns Hopkins in NCAA Tournament Third Round

    Lynchburg College women's soccer hadn't lost a game all season coming into its third round contest against Johns Hopkins University in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Blue Jays got the best of the Hornets on Saturday by a 3-1 scoreline, making LC's first loss of the season also the capper to its season. The Hornets finished with a 21-1-3 record, tied for the most wins in program history.
  • Rhodes' Blast Leads Way to Lynchburg Win in NCAA Second Round

    Nikkie Rhodes blasted a 35-yard free kick into the side netting (pictured above) to record the first of two Hornet goals as Lynchburg College defeated Montclair State University, 2-0, in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. LC moves on to face Johns Hopkins University in the round of 16, which is scheduled to begin next weekend.
  • Marlins Fall to Rowan in First Round of NCAA Tournament

    A return to Baltimore for NCAA Division III Championship women's soccer tournament action had an all too familiar outcome for Virginia Wesleyan College on Saturday. Despite producing a strong effort in both halves, the Marlins came ended up on the short end of a 1-0 score against Rowan University in the first round of postseason play.
  • Hornets Advance in NCAA Tournament on Dupuy's Goal

    Lynchburg sophomore Dessi Dupuy (pictured) tallied the game's only goal in the 68th minute to help the Hornets defeat Frostburg State University, 1-0, in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. LC moves on to face Montclair State University on Sunday in second round action. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m. in Lynchburg.
  • Virginia Wesleyan's Witmer Leads ODAC Women’s Soccer Awards

    Three Marlins took home major honors as part of the 2012 ODAC Women’s Soccer Awards on Tuesday morning. Virginia Wesleyan College senior defender Krista Witmer was named the ODAC Player of the Year, while classmate Jess Edelman collected the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award. VWC freshman Kerry Knauss was tabbed the ODAC Rookie of the Year. Bridgewater College head coach Mike Van Horn earned ODAC Coach of the Year laurels.
  • Lynchburg, Virginia Wesleyan Set for NCAA Women's Soccer Action

    Lynchburg College knew it was in the NCAA's field of 64 teams thanks to its ODAC title, which earned the Hornets an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. But Virginia Wesleyan College wasn't a lock for entry...until the Marlins' institution popped up on the selection show. Both LC and VWC will compete on the national stage, with Lynchburg playing host to a four-team pod that covers play thru the first two rounds. The Marlins head north to Johns Hopkins University.
  • Lynchburg Wins 11th ODAC Women's Soccer Title

    Lynchburg College women's soccer scored once in each half as the Hornets collected their 11th overall and third straight ODAC title with a 2-0 win over Bridgewater College on Saturday afternoon. LC earns the ODAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament, which begins play next week. The tournament selection show is set for 1:30 p.m. on www.ncaa.com.

  • ODAC Women's Soccer Pairings Set

    Virginia Wesleyan College is one of two undefeated teams to enter the 2012 ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament, with the Marlins owning the top seed in the eight-team field. The top three seeds in this year's postseason event have combined for just one loss.

  • Three Women's Soccer Teams in NCAA Regional Rankings

    The NCAA released its first set of regional rankings for the fall team sports (except football) on Wednesday with the ODAC earning solid representation throughout. In women's soccer, Lynchburg College sits second in the South Atlantic Region, followed closely by Virginia Wesleyan College (5th) and Washington and Lee University (7th).

  • ODAC Spotlight Athlete of the Week: Dessi Dupuy, LC Women's Soccer

    Lynchburg College women's soccer player Dessi Dupuy lit up the record books with 27 goals as a freshman in 2011. She has continued her scoring ways into her second season at LC, including a pair of goals to help the Hornets to two conference wins last week. One of her efforts came with just 52 seconds remaining in double-overtime against Bridgewater Colllege, giving LC a 1-0 win over the Eagles.

  • Lynchburg Leads ODAC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll

    Lynchburg secured a dozen first place votes on the way to 144 total points to top the 2012 ODAC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. Virginia Wesleyan secured the remaining top nod as part of 130 tallies. Washington and Lee sits third with 118 points while Roanoke (110) and Bridgewater (106) also eclipsed the century mark in fourth and fifth position, respectively (full poll results below).
