FOREST, Va. --- Lynchburg College centerback Emily Maxwell received two special awards to headline the All-ODAC Women's Soccer awards. Maxwell was tabbed both the ODAC Player of the Year by the league's head coaches and the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete by the conference's sports information directors. Bridgewater College mentor Mike Van Horn picked up ODAC Coach of the Year laurels, while Virginia Wesleyan University forward Anna Pedicone earned ODAC Rookie of the Year recognition.

This season's all-conference charts feature 13 standouts that earned All-ODAC honors in 2016. That includes nine players that appear on this season's All-ODAC First Team. Bridgewater forward Keri Rager, LC's Maxwell and forward Caitlin Mertens, Roanoke College midfielder Emily Whitaker, Shenandoah University forward Emily Yergin, and VWU midfielder Zoe Traficante all repeat as first team honorees. BC midfielder Isabella Krider and RC defender Laura Sullivan both moved up a rung from last year's second team, while Eagles' defender Sarah Brennan made the jump for the 2016 third team.

Maxwell, a senior from Quantico, Va., is no stranger to receiving major ODAC honors. She adds this season's pair of special awards to 2015 ODAC Player of the Year and 2014 ODAC Rookie of the Year selections. She is now a four-time All-ODAC First Team honoree, a rare feat in any ODAC sport. The anchor in the center of Lynchburg's base back-three defense, Maxwell led a unit that surrendered just 15 goals against all opponents, which is tied for first in the conference with Roanoke. That total includes just six goals versus league foes, which is second to the Maroons. Maxwell helped the Hornets secure eight one-goal victories with a trio of 1-0 shutouts. That final note includes a 1-0 overtime triumph over Bridgewater in the ODAC title game where Maxwell shined in limiting a potent Eagles' front three. She also got forward to register four points on a goal and two assists.

In the classroom, Maxwell maintains a 3.909 grade point average as a Exercise Physiology major. She is a three-time honoree on the All-ODAC Academic Team and was previously honored as Academic All-District by CoSIDA. She is active with the Lynchburg women's soccer team's partnership with the Sports Outreach Institute, traveling to Uganda and Kenya with the sports ministry that is committed to reducing human suffering.

Van Horn completed his 10th season guiding the Eagles' women's soccer program and earns his second ODAC top coaching honor, pairing this year's award with the recognition he earned in 2012. This season, he led Bridgewater to a 16-5-1 overall record that included a 7-3-0 showing in league play on the way to the fourth seed in the ODAC Tournament. BC won twice in the conference postseason and went to overtime in the program's second-ever appearance in the ODAC championship game before falling to Lynchburg, 1-0. Bridgewater finished the season ranked sixth in the NCAA Division III South Region rankings. Van Horn owns career records 118-68-10 (.628) overall and 71-36-0 (.664) in league play.

Pedicone, a freshman from Lansdale, Pa., adds this season's rookie award to an All-ODAC First Team selection. Pedicone is currently 10th in the ODAC in points with 22 as the Marlins prepare to enter the NCAA Tournament as an at-large selection. Her team-best 11 goals scored sit fifth in the league. She had a stretch of five straight games during the early to middle parts of the season where she scored at least one goal, including a two-goal effort in a non-conference win over Methodist. She registered a second two-goal outing in a 2-0 win at Shenandoah.
