ODAC Women's Soccer Spring Season Preview

FOREST, Va. --- Spring soccer comes to the ODAC for the first time in conference history. The league's women's programs are set to compete in a modified season that will feature a conference tournament to determine an ODAC champion.

In the sections below, we recap the last time we saw ODAC soccer compete in 2019 and take a look at what to expect entering the new season. Be sure to have to check out the capsules at the bottom of this page for a more targeted view at each squad entering the spring campaign.

2019 ODAC TOURNAMENT | BRACKET

  • Randolph-Macon ended a 22-year championship hiatus in 2019 as the Yellow Jackets lifted their 13th ODAC women's soccer crown, their first since 1996.
  • Virginia Welseyan finished as the runner-up for the 10th time in 11 trips to the final game; 2019 was their third title game showing since 2016.
  • R-MC punched its ticket to the championship game with a 4-1 win over Lynchburg and a 1-0 overtime triumph over Bridgewater.
  • VWU defeated Shenandoah, 2-1, in the quarterfinals and then earned a 1-0 win over Washington and Lee at R-MC.
  • The title game went scoreless thru regulation and two overtime periods, resulting in a recorded tie; Randolph-Macon won the ensuing penalty kick shootout, 5-3, to claim the ODAC title and receive the league's automatic entry to the NCAA Tournament

2019 NCAA TOURNAMENT | BRACKET

  • Randolph-Macon traveled to perennial power Messiah College in Grantham, Pa., for early round play
  • The Yellow Jackets got goals from Tyria Smalls and Nicole Czyzewski to take down Haverford College, 2-0, in the first round
  • R-MC next faced the host Falcons in round two and saw its season come to a via a 4-0 result; Messiah would go on to win the national championship, 1-0, over William Smith College.

THE SCHEDULE AND TOURNAMENT

  • ODAC women's soccer season will feature an eight game schedule in an unbalanced format. The matchups and game locations are the same from what would have been played in fall 2020.
  • As is consistent with other ODAC sports, non-conference opportunities can be scheduled at each school's discretion.
  • The ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament will feature four teams with seeding determined by results from conference games. The semifinals will be played at the #1 and #2 seeds on Thursday, April 8. The championship will be hosted by the highest remaining seed on Sunday, April 11.
