    The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced its 2012 NCAA Division III All-America Teams and two athletes from the Washington and Lee women's tennis team were chosen for singles honors.

    Washington and Lee first-year women's tennis player Sonja Meighan (McLean, Va./Flint Hill) completed day one of the NCAA Division III Women's Singles Tournament with two victories on Thursday afternoon at the Cary Tennis Park.
  • W&L Women's Tennis Falls to Emory

    The Washington and Lee women's tennis team was defeated by No. 5 Emory, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon in NCAA Tournament third round action. W&L completes its season with a 20-6 overall record. Lauren Lukas and Sonja Meighan will play in the singles tournament May 24-26.
  • W&L Women's Tennis Tops ONU in NCAA Play

    The seventh-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team won its opener in the 2012 NCAA Division III Tournament, defeating Ohio Northern in the second round by a score of 5-0 on Saturday at Emory University. Washington and Lee advances to Sunday's third round where it will square off against fifth-ranked Emory at 12:00 pm.
  • Three Generals Tabbed for Individual Play

    The NCAA released its selections for the 2012 Division III Singles and Doubles Championships to be held on May 24-26 at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. Junior Hayden White (bottom left), senior Lauren Lukas (top left) and freshman Sonja Meighan will represent Washington and Lee and the ODAC on the men's and women's sides of the bracket.
  • W&L Women's Tennis Ready for NCAA's

    The NCAA announced the bracket for the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Team Tournament on Monday afternoon. Washington and Lee University received one of 15 byes into the second round as the Generals will make the trip to Atlanta and Emory University for regional play next weekend. Both teams are ranked in the top-10 in the country.
  • Meighan Leads Women's Tennis Awards

    W&L's Sonja Meighan secured the ODAC Player and Rookie of the Year awards. The Generals' Eric Ishida was tabbed as the Coach of the Year, and BC's Katy Bergey was selected the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete by the league's sports information directors. Sweet Briar was honored with the Team Sportsmanship Award
  • Generals Win Women's Tennis Title

    The Washington and Lee women's tennis team claimed its 22nd Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship title after defeating Hollins, 5-0, in the championship match on Sunday afternoon on the campus of Randolph-Macon. The Generals clinched the match by winning all three doubles matches and their matchups at No. 4 and No. 6 singles.
  • Field Set For Women's Tennis Tourney

    Washington and Lee University is in search of its 22nd ODAC women’s tennis crown as the Generals (15-5 overall, 10-0 ODAC) enter play in the 2012 ODAC Women’s Tennis Tournament as the top seed. Winner of the past nine conference championships, W&L is followed closely into the postseason by second seeded Bridgewater College (9-1, 11-4).

  • Generals Win ITA Indoor National Title

    The Washington and Lee women's tennis team has won the ITA Indoor National Championship for the first time in program history, defeating Carnegie Mellon, 5-4, on Sunday afternoon at the DePauw Indoor Tennis Center.
  • Generals Top ODAC Women's Tennis Poll

    Washington and Lee University received 10 first place votes on the way to 100 points as the Generals top the 2012 ODAC Women's Tennis Preseason Poll. Hollins University garnered the remaining top tally towards 86 points to hold second in the survey. Just three points separates Sweet Briar College (79) and Bridgewater College (76) for third position.
  • VWC Names New Director of Tennis

    Tom Drabczyk, a two-time All-ODAC honoree as a Marlins' player, has been named the new Director of Tennis at Virginia Wesleyan College, as announced by the school on Wednesday. A former VWC assistant coach, Drabczyk by Ben Hoskyn, a 2008 VWC grad, as his assistant coach. Former director, Edward Kahn, will remain with the program as a volunteer assistant.
  • R-MC Hosts ODAC Individuals Tournament

    Randolph-Macon College hosted the 2011 ODAC fall individual women’s tennis tournament on October 8-9 at the Randolph-Macon Tennis Complex. SBC's Ariel Taylor (pictured) claimed the No. 1 singles title for the second straight year.

    Washington and Lee freshman Sonja Meighan started off her collegiate career with a bang as she won the 2011 ITA Southeast Regional Championship Singles Title this past Monday. She moves on to the ITA National Small College Championships in Mobile, Ala., on Oct. 13-16.
  • Perry Pegged to Lead Bridgewater Tennis

    Martin Perry, three-time NCAA D-III National Coach of the Year, has been named the new head coach of the Bridgewater men’s and women’s tennis programs on Monday. Perry has spent the last eight-plus years as the head men’s and women’s coach at national power, The University of Chicago.
  • Fainter to Lead Roanoke Women's Tennis

    Roanoke College Athletic Director Scott Allison announced the hiring of new women’s tennis coach, Justin Fainter, on Monday morning. Fainter takes over the position that was held by 13-year coaching veteran Scott Gibson, who resigned in May. Fainter comes to RC from Harrisonburg, where he led his high teams to two regional championships in VHSL play.
