JEN SYNDER, Washington and Lee, Junior, No. 3 Singles, No. 2 Doubles

Snyder, a junior from Highland Heights, Ohio, helped lead the No. 9 Generals to a 6-3 win over No. 8 Carnegie Mellon on Saturday at the Duchossois Tennis Center. Playing No. 3 singles, Snyder defeated CMU’s Alexandra Tapak in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles, she partnered with junior Ellen Yeatman to top the CMU duo of Jennifer Chui and Alexandra Tapak, 8-2, for W&L’s only doubles victory of the match.

Liz Killion, Guilford, Senior, No. 5 Singles, No. 2 Doubles
Killion went 3-1 overall in the Quakers’ 1-1 week… won twice at fifth singles in league tilts versus Sweet Briar and Emory & Henry… posted a 1-1 mark at second doubles with a win over Emory & Henry… along with classmate Nina Bollage, she suffered a narrow 9-8 setback at second doubles versus Sweet Briar.

Karen Montoya, Hollins, Sophomore, No. 1 Singles, No. 1 Doubles

Montoya went 4-1 over the past week, helping Hollins to two ODAC wins.  Although she lost at No. 1 singles, she and her Hollins teammate claimed a No. 1 doubles victory in helping HU defeat Sweet Briar.  She also picked up a doubles win in an incomplete match (due to weather) against Bridgewater.  Montoya finished her week with wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in a victory over Roanoke.  Her singles win was a come-from-behind effort after dropping the first set.
