Winton Earns Top Honors for Second Time

W&L’s Snyder, Boles also Receive Individual Awards

FOREST, Va. --- Randolph-Macon senior Raena Winton secured her second straight ODAC Player of the Year as part of the 2010 ODAC Volleyball All-Conference awards.  Washington and Lee University mentor Bryan Snyder was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year, while Generals’ freshman M.A. Boles picked up the ODAC Rookie of the Year honor.  Eastern Mennonite University senior Elisa Troyer was named the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Winton, from Magnolia, Texas, adds this honor to the top player award she earned in 2010.  The Yellow Jackets’ southpaw right side hitter posted 277 kills for a 3.18 per game average, good for third in the conference entering the 2010 ODAC Tournament.  Her team-best .327 hitting percentage ranks sixth in the league, while she also records 0.75 blocks per game (65 total).  Winton has hit better than .300 in 19-of-29 matches played, and picked up a season-high 17 kills twice on R-MC’s trip out to California in mid-October.

Snyder leads his Generals into the ODAC postseason as the top seed after finishing with a 9-1 league mark, tied with Randolph-Macon.  Snyder adds this award to six previous ODAC top coaching honors, his last coming in 2006 as the capper to six straight accolades.  Through the 2010 regular season, Snyder owns a 310-80 (.795) overall record.

Boles, from Houston, Texas, has experienced immediate success in her first season in Lexington.  The outside hitter currently leads the ODAC in total kills with 346, and is second in kills per game at 3.30.  She is also tops in the conference in attacks at 969.  She registered double-figure kill totals in 20-of-30 matches played, notching a season-best 21 in a five-set victory over Randolph-Macon in September.

Troyer, a senior from Harrisonburg, Va., boasts a 3.96 grade point average as a Biochemistry and Pre-Medicine major to go with a Spanish minor.  She is a consistent member of the EMU Dean’s List, received the 2010 EMU Women’s Volleyball Academic Achievement Award, and has been a member of the Academic All-ODAC Team each of the past three seasons.  On the court, Troyer is tied for the Royals’ lead with 23 aces while collecting 171 kills (1.99 kpg) and 199 digs (2.31 dpg).
