  • Hollins Names Shook Volleyball Coach
    June 29, 2012
    Hollins and athletic director David Zinn are excited to announce that Bill Shook has been named new head volleyball coach. Coach Shook will take over the program as it enters its second season of ODAC play after a six year hiatus. In addition to his coaching duties, Shook will also serve as an instructor in the physical education department.
  • EMU Tabs New Volleball Coach

    Eastern Mennonite University has announced the hiring of Jeff Tyson as head women's volleyball coach. Tyson comes to EMU from Marion, IN, where he has been heavily involved in the region's volleyball scene, including four years as an assistant coach at Indiana Wesleyan University.
  • AVCA Honors for Trio of Standout Athletes

    The AVCA recently announced its postseason awards, and three ODAC student-athletes were honored. Randolph-Macon's Mallory Carter (pictured) and teammate Marli Dabareiner were named to the AVCA All-South Region Team as well as honorable mention All-America. Washington and Lee's M.A. Boles was named honorable mention all-region.
  • R-MC Falls to Emory in Second Round

    Reigning ODAC Champion Randolph-Macon College saw its season come to an end on Saturday afternoon at the hands of No. 3 Emory University in the second round of the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament. EU topped R-MC, 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-19). The Yellow Jackets finished with a 24-6 record after winning their third straight ODAC championship.

    Randolph-Macon powered its way to a 3-1 win (25-16, 25-18, 24-26, 25-21) over Johns Hopkins University in the opening round of the 2011 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament. Mallory Carter and Tori Puryear combined for 28 kills to lead the way. R-MC moves on to face Emory University in round two.

  • ODAC Announces Volleyball Awards

    Washington and Lee earned a pair of major honors as part of the 2011 All-ODAC Volleyball Teams. M.A. Boles was tabbed the Player of the Year, while Bryan Snyder was chosen as the Coach of the Year. Lynchburg's Aricquel Payne was named the Rookie of the Year, and Randolph-Macon's Jessica Sears was selected as the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete.
  • RMC Headed Back to CNU for NCAA Play

    For the second straight year, Randolph-Macon will make the short trip over to Newport News to Christopher Newport University for regional play in the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament. The Yellow Jackets, in their third straight appearance in the national tourney, square off with Johns Hopkins University in their opening match on Friday.

    Behind 21 kills from Mallory Carter, the Randolph-Macon volleyball team captured its third consecutive ODAC Championship with a 3-1 victory over Washington & Lee. R-MC is now 23-5 overall and will take part in the 2011 NCAA Tournament beginning next Friday at a time and location to be announced Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. on NCAA.com.

    The top-seeded Washington and Lee volleyball team received a career-high 25 kills from sophomore outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) en route to a 3-2 vin over fourth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan in the semifinal round of the ODAC Championship at the Warner Center on Saturday afternoon.

    Randolph-Macon twice fell a game behind Lynchburg in the second semifinal of the ODAC Volleyball Tournament, but the Yellow Jackets clawed back to pull out a 3-2 victory (15-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-17, 15-8) in Lexington on Saturday. Second-seeded R-MC moves on to face host and top seed, Washington and Lee, in the conference title game at 5:00 p.m.
  • Generals Cruise Past Hollins in Semis

    The top-seeded Washington and Lee volleyball team used a dominant offensive performance to sweep No. 8 Hollins, 3-0, in the quarterfinal round of the ODAC Tournament on Wednesday evening at the Warner Center. W&L will now host both the semifinals and finals on Saturday.
  • Marlins Sweep Eagles for Spot in Semis

    Virginia Wesleyan made it four-for-four in fall sports semifinals berths as the Marlins topped Bridgewater, 3-0, in an ODAC volleyball quarterfinal on Wednesday in the Jane P. Batten Center. The victory sets a trip for VWC to Lexington where the Marlins will meet top seeded Washington and Lee in the semifinals.
  • R-MC Advances Past E&H into Semis

    Second-seeded Randolph-Macon topped seventh-seed Emory & Henry, 3-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2011 ODAC Volleyball Tournament. The Yellow Jackets advance to Saturday's semifinals where they will take on third-seeded Lynchburg at Washington & Lee.
  • LC Tops Guilford in Quarterfinals

    Lynchburg swept past Guilford, 3-0, in the ODAC quarterfinals on Wednesday, setting itself up for an ODAC semifinal showdown with Randolph-Macon on Saturday in the ODAC semifinals. Washington and Lee will serve as host for the final two rounds of the ODAC Volleyball Tournament, both held on Saturday at the Warner Center in Lexington.

    Washington and Lee University and Randolph-Macon College own seeds #1 and #2 for the second-consecutive year heading into the 2011 ODAC Volleyball Tournament. The Generals and Yellow Jackets went a combined 19-1 in ODAC play with W&L completing the conference regular season undefeated.

  • Carter Named AVCA Player of the Week

    Randolph-Macon junior outside hitter, Mallory Carter, was tabbed the NCAA Division III Player of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) following the Yellow Jackets' 4-0 start to the season. Carter hammered 54 and hit at a .358-clip over four matches at St. Mary's (Md.) Seahawk Invitational.
  • R-MC, W&L Tied Atop Volleyball Poll

    Randolph-Macon and Washington and Lee sit tied atop the 2011 ODAC Volleyball Preseason Poll, with each school earning five first place votes and 95 total points. Lynchburg collected the remaining top nod and 75 tallies to secure third position. Virginia Wesleyan and Roanoke are within six points of the Hornets with 72 and 69 points, respectively.
  • EMU Tabs Reznik Interim Volleyball Coach

    Eastern Mennonite University has announced the hiring of Lauren Reznik as interim women's volleyball coach. Reznik not only brings knowledge of volleyball, but also of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, as she was an assistant at Bridgewater College in 2010 and recently played four years for Roanoke College.
