  • EMU Tabs Bert to Lead Royals' Volleyball Program
    February 23, 2015
    Eastern Mennonite University has announced the hiring of Carrie Bert as head women's volleyball coach. Bert has been an assistant the past five years at her alma mater and becomes the 10th head coach in the program's 46-year history. Bert is a 1997 grad of EMU.
  • ODAC Fall Sportsmanship Teams Announced

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2014-15 ODAC Sportsmanship Teams in each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the sixth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship. Seventy-five athletes were honored this season.
  • Hollins Tabs Lawson as New Volleyball Head Coach

    Hollins University Acting Director of Athletics Bill Mannino is pleased to announce the hiring of Katherine Lawson to the position of head volleyball coach. Lawson is no stranger to the Hollins campus community as the newly appointed coach has worked in the Hollins admissions department since July of 2009.
  • Three Named Honorable Mention All-Americans by the AVCA

    Randolph-Macon College outside hitter Courtney Lowers, Washington and Lee University middle Mackenzie Shand, and Randolph College outside hitter Jordan Templin lead the ODAC list of honorees from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). The three were recognized as Honorable Mention All-Americans.
  • Generals Upended by Mount Union in NCAA Tournament

    The Washington and Lee volleyball team lost to 12th-ranked Mount Union, 3-0, on Thursday in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at Wittenberg University. The Raiders (29-5) hit .292 with 48 kills on 106 attempts to beat the Generals (27-7), 25-21, 25-14, 25-22. W&L was held to a .147 hitting percentage with 28 kills on 102 attempts.
  • R-MC's Lowers, Rogers Lead ODAC Volleyball Awards

    Randolph-Macon took home a pair of special honors to lead the 2014 All-ODAC Volleyball Awards. Yellow Jackets’ outside hitter Courtney Lowers was named the ODAC Player of the Year, while R-MC mentor Bill Rogers took home ODAC Coach of the Year accolades. Roanoke middle hitter Brooke Bostwick was tabbed the ODAC Rookie of the Year, while Washington and Lee setter Alex Kinzer earned the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Scholar-Athlete award.
  • Washington and Lee Set for NCAA Volleyball Tournament Appearance

    Washington and Lee University punched its ticket to the NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament on Saturday evening, leaving no question the Generals would be in the field of 64. Now they know where they're going. W&L will make the trip to Ohio to Wittenberg University to begin competition in one of eight regional pods that feature eight teams.
  • Washington and Lee Volleyball Wins Third Straight ODAC Championship

    The Washington and Lee volleyball team won its third straight ODAC title and the 15th in program history, as it defeated Lynchburg on Saturday, 3-1, in the championship match hosted by Randolph-Macon.

  • ODAC Volleyball Tournament Pairings Set

    Randolph-Macon won all but one match during the ODAC regular season, placing the Yellow Jackets atop the conference standings and awarding them the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Volleyball Tournament. Virginia Wesleyan College won its final match of the season on Saturday, vaulting itself to the second seed by virtue of head-to-head tiebreakers over Washington and Lee University. Lynchburg College rounds out the event's top four seeds.

  • Randolph's Templin Named National Player of the Week

    Randolph College senior outside hitter Jordan Templin was named Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. She is the first ODAC volleyball player to earn the distinction since 2011 and only third overall since 1998 according to the AVCA's archives. Templin helped the WildCats to a pair of ODAC wins, registering 52 kills including a program-record 29 in a win over Guilford. The WildCats 17 wins are its most since 1997.

    The Washington and Lee volleyball team earned a 3-0 win over Southern Virginia on Saturday on day two of the W&L Invitational, which marked the 400th victory at W&L for head coach Bryan Snyder.

  • Generals Lead ODAC Volleyball Preseason Poll

    Two-time ODAC defending champion Washington and Lee collected 115 points and eight first place votes to sit atop the 2014 ODAC Volleyball Preseason Poll. Randolph-Macon is one of four other squads to earn first place consideration, receiving two top nods and 106 total tallies. Lynchburg stands third with 97 points, while Virginia Wesleyan and Bridgewater round out the top-five having each received one first place vote towards 87 and 85 points, respectively.
