Washington and Lee Enters NCAA Volleyball Tournament Bracket

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The NCAA women's volleyball tournament is back! Fans would have to turn back the clock to November 2019 for the last time an ODAC team had the chance to play for a national volleyball championship. The NCAA put an end to the event's hiatus with the announcement of the 2021 Division III field on Monday afternoon.

Washington and Lee University will the ODAC's lone representative in the 64-team field. The Generals earned their position via automatic qualification after winning their second straight and 18th overall ODAC title on Sunday afternoon.

Forty-four of the tourney's 64 programs received automatic qualification from their respective conferences. There were zero "Pool B" bids as independent teams or those that compete in league's that do not feature automatic NCAA qualification. The remaining 20 teams received at-large bids from "Pool C," which includes all teams that did not receive AQ or Pool B entries.

Washington and Lee (26-7) will travel to Emory University to open tournament play in regional competition in an eight-team pod. The Generals start off against Southwestern University (Texas)(24-5). The winner of that match will face either Berry College (25-2) or Transylvania University (23-12) on day two. The other side of the pod pits Christopher Newport University (22-9) against the University of Texas at Dallas (17-9) and the host Eagles (23-5) against Southern Virginia University (28-4).

Regional play featuring eight eight-team pods is slated for Thursday-Saturday, November 11-13, or Friday-Sunday, November 12-14. The eight regional winners will travel to St. Louis, Mo., for quarterfinal, semifinal, and championship action on Thursday-Saturday, November 18-20. Washington University in St. Louis will serve as host with its Francis Fieldhouse as the venue.
