Kritter, a sophomore from Culpepper, Virginia, led the Hornets to two five set victories in ODAC play this week. LC defeated Bridgewater Wednesday for the first time since 1999, as Kritter has 13 kills and 21 digs. The 5-9 outside hitter slammed 16 kills and added 19 digs as the Hornets took sole possession of first place in the conference with a come-from-behind win over Randolph-Macon College on Saturday in Turner Gymnasium.
Volleyball Honor Roll
Tricia Davis, Bridgewater College, Senior - Setter
Davis averaged 8.5 assists and 3.7 digs per set as the
Eagles split a pair of five-set ODAC matches during the week. In a
five-set loss to Lynchburg, Davis finished with 42 assists and 19
digs. In a five-set victory over E&H, she finished with 43
assists and 18 digs. During the match against E&H, Davis became
BC's all-time leader in assists. Davis now has 4,563 assists
breaking the previous mark of 3,548 held by Tiffany Tumer
(1999-2002).
Tabitha Bowman, Eastern Mennonite University, Sophomore -
Outside Hitter
Bowman continued her strong play as of late, as she
averaged 2.5 kills and 2.8 digs a game. The sophomore was very
consistent, as she landed nine, 10, and nine kills in EMU's
three matches last week.
Twyla Sessor, Emory & Henry College, Senior -
Libero
Sessor broke the ODAC career digs record as she recorded
her 1,794th dig versus Bridgewater. This mark surpassed Michelle
Kutcher's (Randolph-Macon, 2004-07) record of 1,783. On
the week, Sessor led the Wasps with 7.1 digs per game. Over the
past week, the Wasps upset Washington and Lee, 3-2, and lost
in a down to the wire five-set match to Bridgewater. The Wasps
victory over W&L marked only the third ODAC loss for
the Generals in their last 86 conference matches.
Taylor Phillips, Guilford College, Sophomore - Setter
Phillips led Guilford in a 1-2 week with 93 assists (8.45
aps)... also hit .370 with 10 kills and contributed 19 digs... made
a career-high 53 assists, the 11th-highest total in
school history, in the Quakers' 3-2 loss at Peace Oct. 1... totaled
a match-high 29 assists, five kills and four digs in a 3-0 win over
Sweet Briar.
Mallory Carter, Randolph-Macon College, Freshman - Outside
Hitter
Carter helped R-MC to a 2-1 week in the ODAC. In a
win over VWC, she had 12 kills and 17 digs. In a loss
to LC, she had seven kills, eight aces and 19 digs.
In a 3-0 win at Roanoke, she had 10 kills and seven digs
in two games. For the week, she had 29 kills, 43 digs
and 11 aces.
Marissa Wood, Virginia Wesleyan College, Junior -
Setter
Wood produced 146 set assists to help the Marlins to two
victories in three matches. She recorded a career-high 51
assists in a five-game road match at then league-leading
Randolph-Macon and followed it with another 51 assists in a
four-game win at Roanoke. On Saturday at home she dished out
44 assists to help VWC to a victory over Guilford. Wood also
served five aces in the three matches and had 22 digs. VWC's
all-time leader in assists, Wood now has 634 so far this season.
