KRISTI STEVENS, Washington and Lee University, Senior - Setter

Stevens, a senior from Overland Park, Kansas, averaged 9.5 assists per game over four matches at the Averett Invitational and added another 42 assists in a win over Lynchburg early in the week to help the Generals post a 5-0 record last week.  Steves was named to the All-Tournament Team  at Averett for her efforts.  She also added 8 kills in 13 attempts with no errors and 41 digs during the tournament.  Against Lynchburg, she added one more kill, an ace, a block and 15 more digs.

Erika Dirnagl, Bridgewater College, Senior - Right Side
Dirnagl helped led the Eagles to a 2-2 record on the week. She averaged 3.18 kills per set and hit for a .402 percentage during the four matches. She finished with 13 kills and four aces in a big ODAC victory over Va. Wesleyan. She was named to the all-tournament team at the Frostburg Invitational where she averaged 3.17 kills per set and hit for a .425 percentage.

Christine Bottles, Eastern Mennonite University, Senior - Setter
Bottles averaged 9.0 assists per game in EMU's two matches this week. In Saturday's four-set loss to Southern Virginia, Bottles lofted 39 assists as two of her hitters eclipsed double digits in kills. The senior setter also had 12 digs. In the 3-0 sweep of Randolph, Bottles picked up 24 assists while also recording a pair of kills. In just her second season as a collegiate setter, Bottles has 572 assists, averaging 7.5 a game.

Rachel Fertitta, Emory & Herny College, Sophomore - Middle Hitter
Fertitta helped the Wasps go 2-0 over the past week.  E&H has now have won 14 of 18 matches on the season. Over the past seven days, the Wasps defeated Roanoke and Southern Virginia. Fertitta led the Wasps with 4.62 kills per game, 1.50 blocks per game and 5.94 points per game. Her hitting percentage for the week was .441.

Anna Miller, Guilford College, Junior - Outside Hitter
Miller led Guilford in a 1-1 week with 27 kills (3.86 kps) and 29 points (4.14 pps)... also contributed 19 digs (2.71 dps)... made a match-high 14 kills and added 10 digs in Guilford's 3-0 win over visiting Greensboro... hit .324 and accounted for 15 points in the match... led Guilford with 13 kills and a .267 hitting percentage in a 3-1 loss at N.C. Wesleyan... added nine digs in the match.

Michelle Boucher, Lynchburg College, Junior - Outside Hitter
Boucher collected 33 kills last week to lead LC to a 2-1 record. She boasted a .312 hitting percentage and two solo blocks.

Raena Winton, Randolph-Macon College, Junior - Right Side
Winton helped Randolph-Macon to a pair of wins over the past week and a strong showing at the Christopher Newport Tournament in which the Yellow Jackets squared off against #2 Juniata as well as CNU, Salisbury and Mary Washington.  Winton recorded 50 kills through four matches (did not play vs. Sweet Briar).  She also had 11 digs and four blocks.  Against Salisbury, she knocked down 18 kills in a 3-2 loss.  She had 16 winners versus CNU, and had eight apiece in a loss to Juniata and a 3-1 win over Mary Washington.

Debbie Sterne, Virginia Wesleyan College, Senior - Middle Hitter
Sterne recorded 39 kills in a 4-1 week for the Marlins, including a 4-0 showing in the Averett University Invitational.  She recorded 9 kills in matches against Ferrum, Roanoke, and Averett en route to increasing her career total to 1,010.  She is only the second woman in VWC volleyball history to hit and surpass the 1,000 plateau in kills.  She also recorded three solo blocks and nine block assists during the five-match week. Sterne currently ranks third this season for VWC in kills and leads the team with 54 total blocks.  VWC is now 19-4 after a 3-2 loss at Bridgewater, a 3-1 win over Roanoke, and 3-0 wins over Ferrum, Averett, and Greensboro.
