MALLORY CARTER, Randolph-Macon, Junior, Outside Hitter

Carter, a junior from Moseley, Va., wins her second straight and third overall ODAC weekly honor of the 2011 season.  Carter led Randolph-Macon to a 4-1 week including an ODAC win at Randolph and a 3-1 showing at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta where she was named to the All-Tournament Team.  Carter had 80 kills on the week, making just 20 errors on 199 attempts for a .302 hitting clip for the week.  She had 25 kills and 11 digs against Randolph and followed that up with a 26-kill, 20-dig performance in a five game win over Berry.   After losing to host and #4 Emory, Carter helped R-MC rebound with a win over Virginia Wesleyan with 12 kills and four digs.  She closed out the tournament with 13 kills and eight digs against Martin Methodist.  For the week, Carter averaged 4.71 kills per game and 3.29 digs per contest.

Volleyball Honor Roll

Sarah Ritchie, Eastern Mennonite, Freshman, Outside Hitter
Ritchie had double digits kills in each of the two matches and finished with weekly averages of 4.50 kills and 3.0 digs per game, while also dropping in a pair of service aces each time out, in a 1-1 week for the Royals.  Ritchie led EMU with 12 kills and 12 digs Tuesday against ODAC rival Virginia Wesleyan, then hammered in another 15 kills in Thursday’s sweep of future ODAC opponent Shenandoah.  For the season, Ritchie leads EMU with 2.90 kills per game and is second on the team with 2.65 digs.

Laura Kopald, Guilford, Senior, Right Side
Kopald had 10 kills on .214 hitting with six digs in Guilford’s 3-0 loss at N.C. Wesleyan, the Quakers’ lone match of the week.

Aricquel Payne, Lynchburg, Freshman, Outside Hitter
Payne registered 15 kills against conference opponent Roanoke College last Wednesday, had 21 kills in a five-set loss to the University of Mary Washington on Saturday and added nine more kills in a win over Southern Virginia University. She had 28 combined digs over the three matches last week and four service aces.  Payne also leads Lynchburg in total kills.
