Becca Loftis, Lynchburg, Junior, Outside Hitter

Loftis, a junior from Coventry, Conn., helped the Hornets to a 5-0 week to close the regular season heading into the ODAC Tournament.  Loftis collected 37 kills and hit .400 for the week covering 15 games played.  Her lowest attack percentage in any one match was .294 as she committed just seven errors in 75 opportunities.  She also had a strong week defensively as she collected 17 total blocks, good for 1.13 per game.  Her best outing came against Randolph College when she registered 11 kills to go with five blocks in a 3-0 win.

Volleyball Honor Roll

Katie Baker, Bridgewater, Senior, Middle Hitter
Baker was solid at the net to help lead the Eagles to a 3-3 record over the past week. In four matches at the St. Mary’s Seawhawk Invitational, Baker averaged 3.5 kills per set, .84 blocks per set while hitting for a .466 percentage. She averaged 3.1 kills per set in total for the week to go along with just under one block per set while hitting at a .364 clip.

Tabitha Bowman, Eastern Mennonite, Senior, Outside Hitter
Playing in her final collegiate matches, senior Tabitha Bowman responded with two big matches Saturday, including a 17-kill performance in a 3-1 win over Southern Virginia.  Bowman came within two kills of her career record, making just one error in 28 attempts for a .571 hitting percentage.  Then in the final contest of EMU’s tri-match, she landed another 15 kills in a 3-1 loss to Marymount.  Bowman averaged 3.64 kills per game last week, bringing her career total to 852 swats.  She finishes No. 6 on EMU’s Career Kills list.

Taylor Whitley, Guilford, Sophomore, Setter
Whitley averaged 9.12 assists, 1.75 digs, 1.00 kills and 0.25 blocks per game in the Quakers’ 2-0 week… had five kills on .571 hitting with 43 assists and five digs in the Quakers’ five-set, comeback win at Emory & Henry… had three kills with 30 assists and two service aces in a 3-0 win at Salem… moved into third place on Guilford’s single-season assists list… ranks seventh on the school’s career assists chart.

Kelsey Largen, Roanoke, Senior, Outside Hitter
Largen was named to the Messiah Invitational’s All-Tournament Team after posting 35 kills in 13 games and four matches.  She also had eight kills and 12 digs to lead Roanoke to a 3-0 win over Hollins in the final ODAC match of the season.  Against Ferrum, she again led the Maroons with 10 kills and three aces in a straight-set decision over Ferrum.  Finished the week with 53 kills, 10 aces, five blocks and 36 digs in a 3-3 showing for the Maroons.
