Boles, a junior from Houston, Texas, led the Generals to a 3-0 week in league play. She collected 59 total kills at a 5.90 per game clip while hitting .403 over the trio of matches. She also averaged 3.40 digs per set, corralling 34 loose balls in total. After a 19-kill nine-dig showing in a 3-0 win over Guilford, Boles one-upped herself with a pair of 20-kill efforts in a 3-1 victory at Roanoke and a 3-0 triumph at Hollins. She added eight digs and three blocks against the Maroons, while chipping in 17 digs and another block at HU. She hit .581 in the latter match. With the 59 kills, Boles moved into seventh place in career kills at W&L with 1,173.
Volleyball Honor Roll
Megann Grimes, Bridgewater
- (So., MH - Midland, Va., 14)
Grimes helped the Eagles to a 2-1 week with a pair of conference
wins over Shenandoah and Randolph. In BC's 3-1 win over the
Hornets, Grimes posted 14 kills with an attack percentage of .367
with five blocks. Against Randolph, Grimes matches her first
match total and had a team-high 14 kills, a .393 attack percentage
and three blocks. In Saturday's 3-1 loss to Lynchburg, Grimes
had 10 kills and five blocks.
Kelsey Ruehling, Guilford
- (Fr, OH - Three Rivers, Calif., 17)
Ruehling notched 19 kills and 22 digs in three matches for the
Quakers last week. She had 12 pickups in a loss to Washington
and Lee, and then registered a weekly-high nine kills and a .273
attack percentage in a loss to Virginia Wesleyan.
Rebecca Loftis, Lynchburg - (Sr, MH - Coventry, CT,
24)
Loftis helped the Hornets to a 4-0 showing including ODAC wins
over Emory & Henry, Eastern Mennonite and Bridgewater.
Both E&H and BC were ahead of LC in the standings entering
those contests. Loftis put together a .328 hitting percentage
as she recorded 33 kills to go with nine blocks for the week.
Her highest attacking output came in a 3-0 win over Catholic in
which she registered 13 kills and a .476 attack percentage.
Jordan Templin, Randolph - (So, OH -
Ferrum, VA, 22)
Templin helped the WildCats to a pair of ODAC victories this week
in a 2-1 week that featured wins over Hollins and Eastern Mennonite
and a tight 3-2 loss to Bridgewater. On the week, Templin chalked
up two double-doubles, while averaging 3.75 kills per set.
Wednesday against Hollins, Templin had 15 kills and 21 digs en
route to a four-set win for Randolph. In Friday night's loss to BC,
Templin had 14 kills and 18 digs. Saturday in a three-set win over
EMU, she tallied 16 kills on only 29 swings with just one error. On
the week, she averaged 15 kills and 15 digs per match, hitting at a
.347 clip.
Mallory Carter, Randolph-Macon - (Sr, OH
- Moseley, VA, 4)
Carter rolled up 34 kills in two ODAC matches this week to help
R-MC stay perfect in league play and improve to 18-5 on the
year. Carter had 19 kills and 14 digs in a five game win on
the road at Emory& Henry on Friday and followed that up a 15
kill performance less than 24 hours later at Guilford. Carter
hit at a .338 clip for the week and averaged 4.25 kills per
game. With four aces on the week, she now has 205 for her
career which moved her into second-place all-time in R-MC school
history and into the top-10 in ODAC history.
Shannon Stone, Roanoke - (Sr, S -
Williamsburg, VA, 6)
In a 2-2 week for the Maroons, Stone hit a career milestone as she
racked up 72 assists in the four matches, moving her into third
all-time at Roanoke with 1,886 helpers. Stone also tallied 20
kills, 24 digs, seven total blocks, and two service aces in a week
that included a pair of 3-0 wins over Eastern Mennonite and
Shenandoah.
Kala Guy, Va. Wesleyan - (SR, OH -
Fishersville, Va., 2)
Guy helped carry VWC to a 2-0 week, with both wins against ODAC
foes Guilford and Emory & Henry. Both wins were 3-0 finals,
with Guy recording 19 total kills, 19 total digs, and six total
blocks to help the effort. She increased her season kills total to
340 and digs to 265, leading the team in both areas. VWC has won
four in a row and is currently 19-6.
