Generals Maintain Team Lead, BC's Martone Ahead by Three After Two Rounds at ODAC Women's Golf

GLEN ALLEN, Va. --- Washington and Lee University maintained its lead in the team table at the 2022 ODAC Women's Golf Championships as a day two 308 has the Generals positioned at 33-over par 609, 17 shots clear of second place University of Lynchburg (626) heading into the final round. The Hornets posted the best team round of the day at 307 to pick up one shot on the leaders.

Bridgewater College first-year Sophia Martone proved steady wins the race as she will bring a three-shot lead into the final 18 holes on Tuesday morning. She carded an even par 72 on the 5,638 yard track at The Dominion Club in Glen Allen, Va. She is 1-over par for the tournament and three strokes ahead of Lynchburg sophomore Emily Brubaker, who also shot even par and sits at 4-over 148 through 36 holes.

Final round action was supposed to begin at 9:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, but predicting weather entering the area has prompted tournament officials and the league's coaches to move the first tee time to 8:00 a.m. ET. Follow along live with stats provided by Golfstat.

Martone has been both consistent and opportunistic through 36 holes. She leads the field in birdies (8) and par-3 scoring average (-4). Those numbers along with 21 pars have helped her offset five bogeys and two doubles.

Still, several players are within striking distance, especially with inclement weather set to roll into the area. W&L junior Megan Kanaby has won this tournament before and she sits five strokes back at 6-over 150 following a 75 on Monday. First-round leader Marcella Mercer and fellow first-year W&L classmate An Shelmire are at 7-over 151 and 9-over 153 in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Lynchburg sophomore Emily Erickson is sixth at 11-over 155.

Bridgewater senior Heather Donnelly remained in the top-10 and is tied for seventh with Sweet Briar College first-year Amani Narang at 12-over 156. Generals first-year Laetitia Roegner sits ninth at 14-over 158. Eagles junior Savannah Scott and Ferrum College senior Hunter Tharpe round out the top-10 at 16-over 160.
