LYNCHBURG, Va. --- Eight conference records were edited following the first day of competition at the 2022 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Lynchburg. Six events were completed with several others featured in preliminary competition on Friday afternoon.
Lynchburg leads the way on the men's ledger with 51 points. Bridgewater College earned 44 markers, while Shenandoah University sits third with 42 tallies. In the women's team table, Roanoke College tops the field with 68 points. Lynchburg follows at 55, with Shenandoah chiming in third at 48 points.
Competition resumes on Saturday with field events beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET. The first running event is set for 2:00 p.m. ET.

Lynchburg's Aniya Seward and Shenandoah's Tucker Kindig highlighted the day with ODAC overall and championship records achieved. Seward reset her own overall and championship marks in the prelims of the 100-meter hurdles. Her time of 14.11 seconds best her overall mark of 14.26 seconds set earlier this year and her championship record of 14.43 seconds established last season. Kindig snapped 12-year old records in the men's hammer throw. He heaved the apparatus 57.02 meters (187-1.00) shattered the previous record of 55.63 meters (182-6.00) set by Lynchburg's Dan Reid in 2010. Despite finishing second in the event on Friday, Bridgewater's Peter Fulton would have also broken the record as he tossed the hammer 56.82 meters (186-5.00).
Lynchburg's Kelsey Lagunas accounted for the remaining women's record on day one. She posted a time of 11:03.36 seconds in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. That beat the championship time of 11:11.53 set by BC's Calista Ariel in 2019.
Three more championship records were reset in the men's competition. Lynchburg's Frank Csorba won the men's 10,000-meter run in 31:33.69. He takes over top position from the 2018 time of 31:44.88 posted by BC's Jamie Hiegel. Fellow Lynchburg teammate Connor McCroy reset the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase record of 9:18.36, taking over the top spot from Roanoke's Harrison Toney. He stopped the watches at 9:21.67 in 2016.
Eastern Mennonite's Alijah Johnson reset his own ODAC championships record in the prelims of the 200-meter dash. His time of 21.42 shaved 0.03 seconds off his league mark from 2021.
