2023 ODAC Swimming Championships News

ODAC swimmers reset or tied 23 different records over the course of four days during the ODAC Swimming Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Honoring those performances is the announcement of the 2023 All-ODAC Swimming Awards.

Two trophies, 12 overall and/or championship records, and 14 NCAA "B" cut qualifying times greeted ODAC swimming fans over the past four days in the Greensboro Aquatic Center at the 2023 ODAC Swimming Championships. Washington and Lee University took up position in its very familiar perch atop the winners platform after claiming both team titles for the second straight year. The Generals boast ODAC records of 32 women's trophies and eight men's prizes with its mantle also increasing by three individual honors. Brynn Martinson took home her second straight ODAC Women's Swimmer of the Meet award, while head coach Kami Gardner collected ODAC Women's Coach of the Year laurels. Generals' first-year Dalton Jobe earned ODAC Rookie of the Meet distinction. University of Lynchburg, runner-up in the men's points standings and third in the women's table, garnered three special individual honors. Colton Schnars received ODAC Men's Swimmer of the Meet honors, while Lindsey Hair and Matt Fields were named the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Women's and Men's Swimming Scholar-Athletes of the Year, respectively.

ODAC swimming returns to its home away from home at the Greensboro Aquatic Center over the next four days as the conference kicks off its winter series of postseason events with the ODAC Swimming Championships. Seven sessions of swimming await the leagues water-driven student-athletes, albeit a day earlier than in previous years. ODAC teams will compete in the 800-yard freestyle relay on Wednesday evening to kick off the Championships on Wednesday evening, February 8, at 7:30 p.m. ET. Thursday and Friday, February 9-10, feature multiple events with preliminary disciplines in the morning starting at 10:00 a.m. ET each day followed by finals of those same events at 6:00 p.m. ET. On Friday, February 11, prelims for that day's events still start at 10:00 a.m. ET, but the finals move up an hour to 5:00 p.m. ET.

Washington and Lee University did not compete against outside competition last season due to COVID-19 pandemic management protocols. The one-year hiatus did not dullen the Generals championship appetite as W&L's men's and women's programs both lifted trophies following four days of competition in the 2022 ODAC Swimming Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

After one year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ODAC Swimming Championships return to the world-class Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C., for four days of competition to kickoff the conference's winter championship season.

2021 ODAC Swimming Championships News


March 7, 2021
Roanoke College men and University of Lynchburg women claimed their first ODAC swimming titles on Sunday afternoon in Lynchburg, Va., capping two days of championship competition at the Liberty Natatorium on the campus of Liberty University. The Maroons won 16-of-18 events on the way to 1,001.0 points in the men's standings. The Hornets split event victories with Roanoke in the women's competition with each school claiming nine events. Lynchburg earned 922.5 total points to top the women's standings.

The 2021 ODAC Swimming Championships are set for a new location and a new format as league teams go in search of the first conference championship trophies awarded this season. For the first time in conference history, the ODAC championships will be competed at the Liberty Natatorium on the campus of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. Conference swimmers will compete over two days on Friday, March 5, and Sunday, March 7, in a timed finals format. Competition is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. ET both days.

2020 ODAC Swimming Championships News

Washington and Lee University won 28 total events including 17-of-18 possible disciplines on the women's ledger to help the Generals sweep the ODAC Women's and Men's Swimming Championships for a sixth straight season. W&L swimmers eclipsed the NCAA "B" Cut standard in an event 17 times over the four days of competition at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.

Fresh off an exciting championship event, the ODAC is proud to announce the 2019 All-ODAC Men's and Women's Swimming Teams.

Washington and Lee University won 27 total events including all 10 relays as the Generals swept the ODAC Swimming Championships team titles for the fifth straight season. After three days of competition at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, 14 events feature new conference overall and/or championship records with several being reset multiple times.

ODAC swimmers posted some of the fastest regular season times in recent memory with several of last year's top-three times entering the championship already eclipsed in prelude to the 2019 ODAC Swimming Championships. For the second straight year, 22 teams -- 12 women and 10 men -- take to the waters of the Greensboro Aquatic Center in search of both team and individual glory. Competition in this season's conference championship is set for Friday-Sunday, February 15-17. Each day will feature a pair of sessions -- morning preliminaries and evening finals -- with races in 36 combined events.

It's no secret that 2017-18 brought big changes to the conference's swimming ranks. Five men's programs and three women's squads kicked off their first seasons, bringing the league's total contingent to 22 teams -- 12 women and 10 men. One would only expect that the the championship event would then be large. That's exactly what swimming fans can look forward to this weekend as the largest contingent of swimmers in conference history will compete at the 2018 ODAC Swimming Championships over the next three days, February 9-11. The Greensboro Aquatic Center reprises its role as exemplary host for the six-session 36-event affair.

2017 ODAC Swimming Championships News

Washington and Lee University completed its third straight sweep of the ODAC Swimming Championships on Sunday evening, capturing the men's and women's conference titles after three days of competition at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. The Generals racked up 1,042 points to win their 10th consecutive and 27th overall women's championship and collected 1,047 points on the way to wrapping a third title in third season for men's swimming as an official conference championship sport.

2016 ODAC Swimming Championships News

For the second time in as many seasons, Washington and Lee University left the Greensboro Aquatic Centers with a pair of trophies as the Generals won both the men's and women's titles at the 2016 ODAC Swimming Championships. W&L collected 1,030.5 points to capture its ninth straight and 26th overall women's crown, while 1,036.0 proved the Generals' winning total in the men's ranks to wrap up the second season of ODAC men's swimming.

2015 ODAC Swimming Championships News

The 2015 ODAC Swimming Championships marked the first championship in league history for the conference's newest sport, men's swimming. It was a familiar champion that claimed that title and the women's crown as Washington and Lee University stood atop the team standings after three days of competition at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.

The 2015 ODAC Swimming Championships, scheduled to run February 13-15 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, features a new change from past events. For the first time, men's swimming will join the women in a true championship format. Previously, men's swimming participated in an invitational, but with the inclusion of men's swimming as the 24th sponsored sport in the ODAC, a new championship is set to be competed.

Coupled with the release of the new ODACLive.com video portal, the ODAC will have mutli-camera webcasts of all six rounds (prelims and finals) of the championships for both men and women. 2014 ODAC Swimming Championships News

Washington and Lee University captured its 24th overall and seventh straight ODAC swimming title after racking up 953 points over three days of competition in the 2014 ODAC Swimming Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. The Generals won 10 events over the weekend, including two on Sunday during the meet’s final six races.

The second day of competition at the 2014 ODAC Swimming Championships proved to be arguably the fastest set of events in conference history as 15 records were set or reset in addition to eight performances eclipsing the NCAA Division III "B" cut towards national championship qualification. Washington and Lee University was involved in nine new standards and five B-cut swims as the Generals extended their lead in the points standings.

Washington and Lee University won three events on the way to 275 points to sit atop the standings after the first day of competition at the 2014 ODAC Swimming Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Seven records fell overall, with W&L involved in three new standards and Emory & Henry College figuring in the remaining four. The Wasps are second in the team rankings (148 points), while Randolph-Macon College (133 points) rounds out the top three.

2013 ODAC Swimming Championships News


February 10, 2013
Washington and Lee University won four events during Sunday's final day of competition to increase its point total to 1,000 and win the 2013 ODAC Swimming Championships, the program's 23rd overall and sixth straight league title. Randolph-Macon College finished second with 515 points, while Bridgewater College’s second place finish in the meet’s final event secured third place by four points (412-to-408) over Emory & Henry College.

Washington and Lee University won all seven events competed on the second the day of the 2013 ODAC Swimming Championships, setting a pair of records in the process. The Generals have racked up 653 points to lead the team standings. Randolph-Macon College remains in second with 356 points, and Bridgewater College switched places with Emory & Henry College to take over third place with 283 points, just six points clear of E&H.

Washington and Lee University won four of the five events competed and was responsible for one of two records broken on the first day of the 2013 ODAC Swimming Championships. The Generals racked up 294 points to open up a wide margin on second place Randolph-Macon College (140 pts.). Emory & Henry College sits third with 132 points, having the second record of the evening.

February 12, 2012
Washington and Lee won four more events on Sunday evening to help itself towards 992 total points and its fifth straight ODAC swimming crown. Randolph-Macon finished second with 740 points, and Sweet Briar rounded out the top three with 373 points over the three day affair at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.

Washington and Lee University won five of the seven events competed on day two of the 2012 ODAC Swimming Championships, increasing the Generals lead to 169 points (658-489) over Randolph-Macon College . Sweet Briar College made a jump into third (244), leap-frogging Bridgewater College (239) and Greensboro College (160).

2011 ODAC Swimming Championships News


February 15, 2011
The 2011 ODAC/Atlantic States Swimming Championships are in the books. Washington and Lee secured its fourth straight dual title, also marking its 21st overall ODAC crown. The Generals collected 927 total points, followed by Randolph-Macon with 725 and Sweet Briar with 470.

Washington and Lee University won three more events on Sunday evening, powering the Generals to their fourth straight ODAC/Atlantic States Swimming Championship title. It also marked their 21st overall ODAC crown. Randolph-Macon College finished second followed by Sweet Briar College in third and Bridgewater College in fourth.

February 12, 2011
Washington and Lee extended its lead to 156 points over Randolph-Macon following the second day of competition at the ODAC/Atlantic States Swimming Championships. Both the Generals and Yellow Jackets won three events on the day. R-MC's Tracilyn Babington (pictured) eclipsed the NCAA B-cut qualifying time in the 100-yard breaststroke, setting an ODAC record.

2010 ODAC Swimming Championships News


February 14, 2010
Washington and Lee University captured its second straight and 20th overall ODAC Swimming Championship on Sunday afternoon, also winning the full ODAC/Atlantic States team championship. Randolph-Macon finished second with Sweet Briar placing third in the three-day event.

February 13, 2010
Washington and Lee continued its dominance from the first day of action as the Generals took first place in each event, including a pair of relays. Sweet Briar continued its strong showing, having the second-best day among the competing teams. Randolph-Macon was third on Saturday, but maintained its overall second placing for the meet.

The 2010 ODAC/Atlantic States Championships are set to begin the morning of Friday, February 12, and continue through the final 400-yard freestyle relay on Sunday evening. While many records fell in 2009, the 2010 ODAC Championships may be more about depth and new faces than about top marks.
