Washington and Lee Earns 28th ODAC Women's Tennis Title

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. --- The 15th-ranked and top-seeded Washington and Lee women's tennis team claimed its 16th straight ODAC title with a 5-0 victory over seventh-seeded Virginia Wesleyan in the championship match of the conference tournament on Sunday at the Everett Tennis Center.

The championship is W&L's 28th in the 35 years that the ODAC has awarded a women's tennis championship.

The Generals did not drop a single game en route to claiming the ODAC title. W&L jumped out to a 3-0 lead heading into singles play after claiming all three doubles matches 8-0.

In singles action, W&L led in all six matches, but claimed the victory with wins at Nos. 2 and 4 singles. Sophomore Lily Horsley (Richmond, Va. / St. Catherine's School) registered a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles and sophomore Lauren Hassell (Mendham, N.J. / West Morris Mendham) posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.

W&L improved to 18-7 on the season, while the Marlins end the season with a 13-9 record.

Washington and Lee will now wait to see who it will play in the NCAA Tournament. Selections will be released on Monday.
