Generals Fend of VWC, Face R-MC for ODAC Title

LEXINGTON, Va. --- The top-seeded Washington and Lee volleyball team received a career-high 25 kills from sophomore outside hitter M.A. Boles (Houston, Texas/St. John's) en route to a 3-2 vin over fourth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan in the semifinal round of the ODAC Championship at the Warner Center on Saturday afternoon.

W&L (27-7) prevailed 22-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-16, 15-9 over the Marlins 14-17) to advance to the ODAC Finals for the second-consecutive year.

Aiding Boles' offensive effort was aided by first-year outside hitter Rachel Guarisco (Tuscaloosa, Ala./Holy Spirit), who tallied a career-best 14 kills, and sophomore right side Allison Rouse (Troy, Mich./Troy) and senior middle blocker Lindsey Dee (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay School) each contributed seven kills.

Sophomore Meghan Meleski (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) directed the Generals' offense, racking up 50 assists to go with 15 digs. Boles posted a match-best 19 digs, junior libero Cameron Hill (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) had 17 digs and first-year setter Corinne Hemmersbach (Torrance, Calif./Chadwick) chipped in 13 digs.

Dee added three blocks, as did first-year Katie Toomb (Lebanon, Ore./Lebanon) and Hill notched three service aces.
The Marlins were led by junior outside hitter Kala Guy's (Fishersville, Va./Wilson Memorial) 13 kills. Junior middle hitter Taylor Allen (Bowie, Md./Bladensburg Elizabeth Seton) added 11 kills and four blocks.

Guy also had a team-high 17 digs and senior libero Erin Paton (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) added 15 digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Mikaela Whitaker (Gainesville, Va./Haymarket Battlefield) had 10 digs.

Junior setter Allie Bal (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) and first-year setter Mallory Slade (Burlington, N.C./Eastern Alamance) split time running the offense, contributing 23 and 19 assists, respectively.

With the win, W&L advances to the ODAC Finals for a rematch with 2010 ODAC Champion Randolph-Macon. The Championship match is slated to begin at 5:00 pm in the Warner Center.
