MEN'S BASKETBALL
Julian Ramirez, Roanoke. So.,
Guard
Ramirez, a sophomore from Palmyra,
Va., helped lead the Maroons to a 97-87 win over Averett
University, which also snapped Roanoke's three-game losing streak.
Ramirez scored 19 of his team-high 27 points in the first half as
he buried 6-of-7 shots from the field including a 5-for-5 showing
from beyond the arc. He finished the contest 9-of-12 from the field
and 4-of-6 from the foul line to account for his career-high
scoring output. He also notched a game-high seven assists to go
with three rebounds and a pair of steals. Ramirez, who averages
11.5 points per game, is currently third in the ODAC with 42
assists (5.3 apg) through eight games played.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Jasmine Greene, Hollins, Sr.,
Guard
Greene, a senior from Hampton, Va.,
had a banner day leading Hollins to a 71-64 comeback victory in
overtime against Salisbury University over the weekend. She notched
a game-high 28 points that included a 13-for-13 showing from the
free throw line, which ranks second in the ODAC record books for
most free throws made in a game without a miss (Megan Silva, R-MC,
16-of-16 vs. BC on 12/6/05). Greene helped HU complete its comeback
from a seven-point halftime deficit by burying a three-pointer with
20-seconds to play to send the game into overtime. She went 8-for-8
from the stripe in the extra period to help ice Hollins' victory.
Greene added eight rebounds, eight steals and seven assists to her
stat line. The seven assists gave her 315 for her career, which is
tops in Hollins' program history (309). She currently is #1 in the
ODAC with 30 steals and is fourth in scoring at 15.5 points per
game.

SWIMMING
Dani Horne, Greensboro,
Senior
Horne, a senior from Alexandria, Va.,
put together a pair of strong performances over the two weeks
including five individual event victories and one more in a relay
win. In a 130-49 duel meet win over Guilford, Horne won the
100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:06.58, and added the first place
showing in the 1000-yard freestyle in 13:00.06. She and her Pride
teammates claimed the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle relay in
1:56.28. At LaGrange, Horne won the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard
breaststroke, and the 200-yard backstroke.
