FOREST, Va. --- ODAC athletes continue to move towards midseason form following a stellar week of competition. Those earning weekly honors include (picutred, l-r, t-b): Meg Guignon from Washington and Lee volleyball, Michaela Mast from Eastern Mennonite women's cross country, MacKenzye Leroy from W&L men's cross country, Dave Drafton from EMU men's soccer, Delaney Doyle from Randolph women's soccer, De'Eric Bell from Guilford football, Jackie Lerro from Lynchburg field hockey, and Nate Hill from Shenandoah football.

Thru Week Prior to: September 11, 2017

FOOTBALL - OFFENSE De'Eric Bell, Guilford, Jr., Running Back Bell, a junior from Jackson, Ga., put together a record-setting day in the Quakers' 56-17 win at Methodist. Bell set ODAC and Guilford single-game records with 428 all-purpose yards. He registered a ODAC, Guilford, and NCAA Division III-record 11 punt returns, which he turned into 138 yards. He added 137 yards on three kickoff returns, powered by a 97-yard return for a touchdown midway thru the fourth quarter. Bell was a little more conventional with his remaining 153 all-purpose yards. He carried the ball 16 times for 78 yards and pair of touchdowns. He added four receptions for 75 yards to complete his afternoon. All told, Bell averaged 12.5 yards over his 34 touches. FOOTBALL - DEFENSE Nate Hill, Shenandoah, So., Free Safety Hill, a sophomore from Gaithersburg, Md., was a turnover machine from his safety position in the Hornets' 61-14 triumph at N.C. Wesleyan. Hill accounted for three of Shenandoah's six forced turnovers. He intercepted a pair of passes and racked up 55 total return yards. He returned his second pick 37 yards to the Battling Bishops' 39-yard line, setting up a SU scoring pass four plays later. Hill's first forced miscue came in the opening quarter when he jarred the ball loose from NCWC running back Deandre Gillis, who one play prior had scampered 32 yards to the SU 33-yard line. Hill tacked on two tackles and broke up three other passes to give him a team- and game-best five passes defensed. His efforts helped SU hold NCWC to 3-of-13 on third down conversions. FIELD HOCKEY Jackie Lerro, Lynchburg, Fr., Forward Lerro, a freshman from Royerstown, Pa., helped the Hornets move to 4-0 on the season with a pair of victories last week, including a triumph over nationally 18th-ranked Alvernia. In that contest, Lerro came thru with what would turn out to be the deciding goal in the 37th minute of a 3-1 Lynchburg victory. She then exploded in game two, beating the keeper four times in a 45-minute span to defeat Albright College, 5-1. Lerro is currently tied for third in the ODAC with 10 points on five goals scored. MEN'S SOCCER Dave Drafton, Eastern Mennonite, Jr., Midfielder Drafton, a junior from Alexandria, Va., had a hand in a pair of game-winning goals in the Royals 2-0 week. Drafton's first game-deciding impact came in overtime in a 2-1 win at Wesley where Drafton found the back of the next in the 99th minute. His second effort came as an assist on the Royals second tally in a 2-1 victory over Williams Peace. Drafton's effort helped Eastern Mennonite move to 3-1 on the season. WOMEN'S SOCCER Delaney Doyle, Randolph, Sr., Forward Doyle, a senior from Gloucester, Va., put together and eight-point week to help the WildCats to a 1-0-1 week in non-conference action. Doyle started her week by scoring the final two goals in a 4-0 triumph at William Peace, locking up the WildCats first win of the season. She then came to a rescue in a 2-2 draw with Marymount (Va.). After opening the game's scoring with a goal in the 22nd minute, she helped the WildCats avoid a 2-1 loss with the tying goal in the 70th minute. VOLLEYBALL Meg Guignon, Washington and Lee, Jr., Outside Hitter Guignon, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., helped the Generals to a 4-0 showing on the way to earning Most Valuable Player honors at the W&L Invitational. Guignon hammered out 46 total kills while hitting .300 with 65 digs, 13 assists, four aces and a pair of blocks. She accounted for 51 total points at 3.6 points per set. She opened the tournament with 17 kills, 25 digs and six assists in a 3-1 upset win over 17th-ranked Eastern University. She followed up with 11 kills and 16 digs in a 3-1 win over Maryville (Tenn.) and 10 winners and 16 digs in a 3-0 victory over Southern Virginia. She capped her weekend with eight kills and eight digs in a 3-0 win over Meredith. For the season, Guignon has notched 77 kills at an ODAC third-best 2.85 per set to go with 99 digs. MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY MacKenzye Leroy, Washington and Lee, Sr. Leroy, a senior from Port Jervis, N.Y., put together a strong showing at the JMU Open Cross Country Invitational. He finished first among non-NCAA Division I runners at the event, stopping the watches on the eight-kilometer course at 26:55.0. WOMEN'S  CROSS COUNTRY Michaela Mast, Eastern Mennonite, Sr. Mast, a senior from Broadway, Va., finished first among non-NCAA Division I athletes and topped more than half of the Division I field at the JMU Open Cross Country Invitational. She finished the 5.2-kilometer course with a time of 20:51.0. She helped the Royals to first of five non-Division I programs with 27 points.
