ODAC Athletes of the Week | Basketball, Swimming

FOREST, Va. --- Week two of the spring campaign sees men's and women's basketball early season action join continued swimming competition. Those earning weekly awards this week include (pictured from top and left): T.C. Thacker from Lynchburg men's basketball, Aimee DeBell from Randolph-Macon women's basketball, and Cat Sweigart and Blake Madaris from Emory & Henry women's and men's swimming.

MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
T.C. Thacker | Lynchburg | Sr. | Forward
Thacker, a senior from Madison Heights, Va., kicked off his 2021 spring season with a pair of stat stuffing performances to earn the ODAC's first weekly award of the year. Thacker went 6-of-9 from the field towards 16 points with 19 rebounds in Lynchburg's schedule-opening 78-65 victory over Methodist. He dished out six assists and blocked five shots with a pair of steals. Thacker registered his second double-double in as many outings in the Hornets 95-87 win at Eastern Mennonite. He again dropped in 16 points to go with 14 rebounds, four steals, a blocked shot, and an assist. He pulled down nine offensive rebounds over the two outings. Thacker is averaging 16.0 points, 16.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.0 steals, and 3.0 blocked shots thru two games. He's shooting 55.0-percent (11-of-20) from the field.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Aimee DeBell | Randolph-Macon | Jr. | Forward
DeBell, a junior from Studley, Va., kicked off her season with several "firsts" in helping Randolph-Macon to a 77-64 win over Ferrum. The victory mark the first "W" in head coach Lindsey Burke's career in her first game on the Yellow Jackets' sideline. DeBell registered her first career double-double with 15 points and 19 rebounds including nine via the offensive glass. She was 7-of-10 from the field while dishing out four assists. She also registered a pair of blocked shots.

MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Blake Madaris | Emory & Henry | Jr.
Madaris, a junior from Acworth, Ga., picks up the Wasps first-ever ODAC Men's Swimmer of the Week honor after helping Emory & Henry to a 104-7 dual meet victory over Ferrum. Madaris won three times individually, including a back-to-back effort in winning the 100-meter backstroke (1:15.96) and the 400-meter freestyle (5:17.00). He also claimed the 200-meter individual medley (2:44.71). Madaris participated in one relay. He and his teammates posted an exhibition time of 2:08.89 in the 200-meter medley relay, which would have been fast enough to win the event.

WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Cat Sweigart | Emory & Henry | Jr.
Sweigart, a junior from Bridgewater, Va., kicked off her season with a pair of individual event victories and one relay win to help Emory & Henry to a 109-69 triumph over Ferrum. Sweigart won the 200-meter individual medley (2:47.15) and the 100-meter freestyle (1:09.72). She swam as an exhibition competitor in the 100-meter breaststroke, posting a time of 1:23.98 that would have been fast enough to win the event. Sweigart immediately followed her participation in the 100-breaststroke by swimming the anchor leg in E&H's winning 200-meter freestyle relay (2:09.51).
