ODAC Athletes of the Week | Basketball, Swimming, Wrestling

FOREST, Va. --- Week 14 featured a return to full competition following the holiday break and also begins the first report for indoor track & field, set for Tuesday afternoon. Those earning ODAC Athlete of the Week awards for Monday, December 5, include (pictured left-right): Madisen Kimble from Shenandoah women's basketball, Mason Barrett from Averett wrestling, Miles Mallory from Randolph-Macon men's basketball, Katelyn Vieni from R-MC women's swimming, Cael Long from Virginia Wesleyan men's swimming, and Dylan Weaver from SU wrestling.

Below are entries for all six winners from today's release. The schedule below will be used for reporting ODAC Athletes of the Week:

MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Miles Mallory | Randolph-Macon | Sr. | Forward
Mallory, a senior from Beltsville, Md., helped eighth-ranked Randolph-Macon to a pair of key ODAC victories last week. Mallory opened with 24 points and 12 rebounds in a 66-49 road victory at Virginia Wesleyan. He was 9-of-12 from the field and 6-of-7 from the line. Five of his rebounds came via the offensive glass. He also dished out two assists, blocked three shots, and registered a steal. Mallory then nearly notched his second double-double of the week in the Yellow Jackets' 84-71 win over Washington and Lee. Mallory posted 10 points with nine rebounds including two more offensive boards. He added three assists, a steal, and a blocked shot. For the season, Mallory leads the ODAC in rebounding (9.7), blocked shots (15), and minutes played (35.0). He is fifth in scoring (16.7), field goals made (46-of-79), and field goal shooting (58.2%).

MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Cael Long | Virginia Wesleyan | Fr.
Long, a first-year from Johnstown, Pa., put together a strong showing at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College. Long swam seven times in the two-day event, posting three individual times inside the ODAC's top-10 seasonal rankings. He finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly at 0:51.79, the fourth-fastest time in the conference. He added a fourth place showing in the 200-yard individual medley at 1:58.93 and placed fifth in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:00.51. Both of those marks rank ninth in the conference. Long and teammates Luke Bukowski, Stuart Reyes, and Logan Schohn competed in four relays. They posted times of 1:35.29 in the 200-yard freestyle relay, 3:31.17 in the 400-yard freestyle relay, 1:48.51 in the 200-yard medley relay, and 4:04.29 in the 400-yard medley relay.

WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Katelyn Vieni | Randolph-Macon | Jr.
Vieni, a junior from Mechanicsville, Va., put together a stellar weekend at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon College. Vieni won both the 200-yard and 400-yard individual medley events and set a program record in the shorter event. Her time of 2:08.68 in the 200-IM not only stands atop R-MC's record book entries, but it ranks second in the ODAC this season. Her time of 4:41.77 in the 400-IM is fifth in the league. Vieni added a second place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:07.22, also the fifth-fastest time in the conference. Vieni completed in three relays with a pair of third place finishes and a fifth place posting. She lead-off the Yellow Jackets third-place 200-yard freestyle relay squad with Caroline Russell, Kelsey James, and Kelsey Craighead joining her on a time of 1:41.61. Vieni and Russell were joined by Kierra Parsons and Melina Christou in finished third in the 800-yard freestyle relay in 8:06.66. Tess Williams joined Vieni, Craighead, and Russell in placing fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:46.01.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Madisen Kimble | Shenandoah | Jr. | Guard
Kimble, a junior from Herndon, Va., was strong across the board in helping Shenandoah to a pair of ODAC victories to improve the defending champion Hornets season records to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in ODAC play. Kimble open with 13 points in a 75-53 win at Eastern Mennonite. She was 4-of-8 from the field including 2-of-3 from deep with a 3-for-3 day at the line. She added five rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Kimble then registered career-highs of 23 points and six assists in Shenandoah's 80-48 road win at Lynchburg. She as 8-of-14 from the field with two more made three-pointers. She was 5-of-5 from the stripe and chipped in six rebounds. Her six assists gave her 11 for the week against just one turnover as a primary ball-handler. For the season, Kimble leads the ODAC in scoring (15.0) and assists (30). She is second in three-pointers made (16-of-36) and three-point shooting (44.4%).

WRESTLER OF THE WEEK - 165 LBS. AND HEAVIER
Dylan Weaver | Shenandoah | Jr. | 174 lbs.
Weaver, a junior from Annandale, Va., earned a spot on the podium with a third place finish at 174 pounds at the Petrofes Invitational hosted by Messiah University. Weaver went 5-1 in his six bouts with two wins by major decision, a fall, and a technical fall. He opened with a 16-4 major over Mike Rivera from Cortland and followed by pinning Vincent Player from Bridgewater State at 4:23. In the quarterfinals, Weaver posted a 20-2 technical fall victory over Gavin Hollingsworth from Alvernia before squaring off with highly-rated Kade Kravits from King's College in the semifinals. Kravits posted a 4-1 decision, but Weaver responde with a 8-6 sudden-victory win over Pat Ross from Cortland to earn a spot in the third place match. Weaver defeated Mount Union's David Reinhart with a decisive 15-4 major. Weaver is now 12-4 overall this season.

WRESTLER OF THE WEEK - 157 LBS. AND LIGHTER
Mason Barrett | Averett | So. | 125 lbs.
Barrett, a sophomore from Bealeton, Va., helped Averett University to third place overall in a strong field at the New Standard Corporation Invitational hosted by York College (Pa.). Barrett faced three top-nine* ranked wrestlers on his way to finishing second at 125 pounds. He opened with a 12-2 major decision win over Liam Bullock from SUNY-Brockport. Barrett then squared off with fellow ODAC competitor Riley Parker from Washington and Lee. Barrett earn a 3-1 decision over the weight class's top-ranked wrestler. He then moved on to face ninth-ranked Ryan Rosenthal from The College of New Jersey. Barrett osted a 4-3 decision to setup a championship showdown with sixth-ranked Joziah Fry from Johnson & Wales. Fry posted a 10-4 decision on the way to being named wrestler of the tournament. After going 3-1 at York, Barrett is now 11-2 on the year.
