Jones' 24 Points Sends No. 11 R-MC Past Randolph 71-64

LYNCHBURG, VA – Behind a game-high 24 points from Danny Jones, No. 11 Randolph-Macon earned a hard fought, 71-64, ODAC road win over Randolph Wednesday night in men's hoops action.

R-MC is now 11-2 overall and 4-1 in the ODAC while Randolph suffers their first league loss, dropping to 3-1 and 8-3 overall.

With 4:33 to go in the game, Jones tied the game for the 10th time, with a bucket that knotted the score at 55-55. After a turnover by the WildCats on their ensuing possession, Jones put R-MC up 58-53 with with a three-point field goal with 3:48 to play.

Randolph's Pete Hamilton pulled his team within two points next time down the floor, converting one of two attempts from the foul line with 3:18 to go.

R-MC responded with a score by Jordan Brown when it got the ball back, making it a two possession game and then sealed the win by going 8-for-8 from the foul line and a getting a key three-pointer from Erich Pugh during final two minutes contest.

Pugh joined Jones in double figures with 14 points for the Jackets. Brown finished the game with nine points, while Brandon Braxton chipped in with eight. Jones and Braxton each grabbed five rebounds in the victory.

Randolph-Macon shot 24-of-47 (51.1%) from the field for the game, including 8-of-16 from beyond the three-point line and out rebounded Randolph 33-29.

Colton Hunt had 22 points for the WidCats, while Derrick Woods-Morrow had nine points and a game-high 10 boards. Randolph finished the game shooting 42.6% from the field, making 23-54 shots on the night and became just the third team this season to score over 60 points against R-MC which is leading the Nation in scoring defense at 53.4 ppg.

Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Saturday when it head to Bridgewater for a 3:00 p.m. ODAC tilt.
