MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
NATHAN RITTENHOUSE, BRIDGEWATER COLLEGE
Rittenhouse, a sophomore from Green Bank, W.Va., finished first at the Virginia State Division ll/lll Championship Meet held Saturday in Harrisonburg. Rittenhouse finished with a time of 27:53.9 to edge teammate Brandon Spalding for the title by less than four seconds.  Bridgewater placed second at the event, just four points behind Lynchburg College.

Tim Harder, Eastern Mennonite Placed ninth at the Va. State Meet with a time of 29:25.2 to help the Royals to a sixth place showing

Helped the Quakers to a 10th place showing at the Hagan-Stone Classic with a time of 27:26.7

Jeremy Falke, Lynchburg Helped the Maroons place third at the Va. State Meet with a sixth-place time of 28:18.0
Andrew Friski, Washington & Lee Top men's finisher for the third place Generals at the Va. State Meet with an 11th-place time of 29:33.0

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
MALLORY McCLAINE, ROANOKE COLLEGE
McClaine, a freshman from Williamsburg, Va., won the 2006 Virginia State Division II/III Championship Meet on Saturday, her first collegiate individual victory. McClaine became the first Roanoke runner to win the event since 2000 by running the six-kilometer course in 25:20.

Ashley Armistead, Lynchburg Her 27:08.4 time was good enough for 16th place, helping the Hornets into fifth position

FIELD HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CHRISSY CLANCY, VIRGINIA WESLEYAN COLLEGE
Clancy, a senior from Oak Hill, Va., scored once against Sweet Briar College in a 6-1 VWC win and twice against Bridgewater in a 3-0 Marlin victory to become the first woman in Virginia Wesleyan field hockey history to record double-digit goals totals in four consecutive seasons.  She currently leads the team with 10 goals and seven assists, adding to her totals as VWC's all-time leading scorer.  Her efforts helped the Marlins improve to 8-5 overall and to 5-1 in the ODAC.

Shannon Kennedy, Lynchburg Scored five goals in a 12-0 shutout of Randolph-Macon Woman's College, the Hornets only game
Lara Stables, RMWC Stopped a total of 42 shots over two games for the Wildcats, including 27 saves versus Roanoke
Cat Cox, Sweet Briar In the Vixens only game of the week, turned away 21 Virginia Wesleyan shots
Amy Volkmann, Washington & Lee Scored two goals in the final 11 minutes to help W&L defeat Mary Washington 2-1

GOLFER OF THE WEEK
JOE GIBSON, WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY
Gibson, a freshman from Atlanta, Ga., helped Washington and Lee to a fourth place finish out of 15 teams at the Greensboro Invitational on Monday and Tuesday by placing first overall with a five-under-par score of 70-69-139.  The individual victory also marked his first collegiate event.

MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DAVID BURLEY, HAMPDEN-SYDNEY COLLEGE
Burley, a freshman from Mount Pleasant, S.C., provided back-to-back clutch performances against ODAC opponents on the week.  Burley recorded an assist on the game-winning goal in the Tigers 2-1 overtime victory against Virginia Wesleyan.  The Tiger victory over the Marlins is the squad's first since 1999.  In the second game of the week, Burley was able to score the game-tying goal in the 75th minute against Eastern Mennonite.  Burley leads the Hampden-Sydney soccer team in goals and is tied for third in assists.

Zane Campbell, Guilford Made nine saves in a 2-0 loss to 25th-ranked W&L in the Quakers only game of the week
Maurwyn Bowen, Lynchburg Notched a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in a 4-2 conference win over Randolph-Macon
J.D. McDermott, Washington & Lee Solid defender has played a major role in W&L's top defense that has surrendered only three goals overall

WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
VERONICA ZYCH, GUILFORD COLLEGE
Zych, a senior from Champaign, Ill., matched a career-high 16 saves in Guilford's 0-0 draw at 18th-ranked Washington and Lee on October 4. She made four stops in the two overtime periods and posted her third shutout of the season, a personal career high which ranks sixth in Guilford women's soccer history. Zych had six stops in the Quakers' 3-1 road win over league-rival Randolph-Macon.  Guilford was ranked sixth in the October 3 NSCAA/Adidas South Region Rankings, a school record in which Zych has played a key role for the Quakers.

Audrea Hamby, Lynchburg Tallied a pair against E&H and another versus Sweet Briar in a 2-0 week for the Hornets
Laura Jackson, Virginia Wesleyan Scored the game-winner in overtime versus Roanoke and notched another in 4-1 win over ranked CNU
Marisa Van Brunt, Washington & Lee Shutdown defender played a pivotal role in the Generals' 10th and 11th shutouts of the season

VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LAURA MAURER, WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY
Maurer, a sophomore from Sparta, N.J., helped W&L to a 6-0 week by averaging 3.94 kills, 3.65 digs, and 0.59 blocks per game while hitting .304.  In a 3-1 win over Averett on Friday, Maurer tallied a season-best 25 kills and 23 digs as the Generals claimed a 3-1 victory over the 17-3 Cougars.  Her efforts against Averett and three other opponents at the Cougars' weekend tournament earned her MVP honors.  On the season, Maurer leads the Generals with an average of 3.50 kills per game.

Marsha Hermes, Bridgewater Hammered out 84 kills (5.2/gm.) at a .477 clip while added 21 digs and 13 total blocks
Courtney Miller, Eastern Mennonite Collected 38 kills, 60 digs (3.16/gm.), and 10 aces over five Royal matches
Kaci Loeffler, Guilford Registered 23 kills and picked up 37 digs (3.7/gm.) during three Quaker matches
Dara Sandifer, Lynchburg Dished out 117 assists (9.75/gm.) to go along with 11 aces and 39 digs
Mollee Farrell, Randolph-Macon Hit .340 for the week with 45 kills to go with 13 total blocks and 10 digs
