BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CHARLIE HARTT, RANDOLPH-MACON COLLEGE
Hartt, a senior from Richmond, Virginia, led R-MC to a 4-0 ODAC week, going 8-for-12 with five homeruns and 11 RBI. Hartt went 4-for-8 with three homeruns and six RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Roanoke on Thursday. On Saturday, Hartt was 4-for-8 with two round trippers and five RBI in a sweep of Guilford.

BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
CASEY HARTMAN, BRIDGEWATER COLLEGE
Hartmant, a senior from Sterling, Virginia, pitched a complete-game shutout against ODAC-leader Lynchburg in the first game of Saturday's DH. Hartman allowed just five hits while striking out five and walking two. 

Baseball Honor Roll
Aaron Read, BC Read hit for a .467 average in four games this past week. Read was 3-for-5 with a run and one RBI in a victory over Averett. In a DH split with ODAC-leading Lynchburg, Read was 4-for-7 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Chris Harpine, EMU Harpine set a new EMU record with three home runs in the second game of an ODAC double header and fell one home run shy of tying an EMU record for home runs in a season as the Royals went 4-2 this past week and just missed making the ODAC Tournament.  Harpine hit .333 for the week with five extra base hits, a team high 11 RBI, and 20 total bases.  He finishes the 2009 season the team leader in hits (50), doubles (10), triples (4), home runs (13), RBI (44), and total bases (107).
Bryan Loy, EMU Loy picked up two wins this past week and kept the Royals in the ODAC Tournament hunt.  Loy pitched 10 2/3 innings this past week, scattering 12 hits while allowing four runs.  The freshman right-hander struck out nine batters and picked up wins against Lancaster Bible College and Virginia Wesleyan College in route to a 3.38 earned run average for the week.
Kyle Wooden, GC Hit .647 with 11hits, a doubles, two homers and eight RBI in the Quakers' 1-4 week ... also scored six runs during the week... collected all 11 hits in 13 at bats in three weekend games... went 4-4 with an RBI in an Apr. 18 loss to Randolph-Macon... homered in both games of a doubleheader split with Washington and Lee Apr. 19... went 3-4 with four RBI in the opener and 4-5 with three RBI and three runs scored in the nightcap for his team-leading 16th game with two or more RBI... matched the school record for hits in a season (71)... became the third Quaker to drive in 50 runners in a season... ranks fifth in school history with 15 doubles, one shy of the school record.
Adam Hart, GC Recorded the Quakers' lone win in a 1-4 week with 11 strikeouts in 8.2 innings versus Washington and Lee, both career highs.
Matt Painter, LC Helped LC to a 2-1 week thanks to a .455 batting average during the last seven days. Painter was 5-11 with two doubles and made all 35 plays in the field as well. Against Guilford in a 10-3 win Wednesday, Painter was two-for-four with three RBI and a double. In a game two victory over Bridgewater Saturday, Painter posted two hits and 20 putouts.
Bryan Breedlove, LC The junior right-hander tossed a brilliant game against the league's most potent offense on Wednesday, as he allowed only three runs on four hits. Other than a late three run homer in the eighth inning, he was stellar, retiring 11 straight through the middle innings. On the season, Breedlove is now 3-2 with a 2.90 ERA, helping LC to a 2.98 team earned run average, which is fourth in the nation.
Brian Jordan, R-MC Jordan paced R-MC to an 8-2 victory over Roanoke, allowing just two hits over 5.2 innings and striking out seven to improve his record to 2-0 on the season.
Mike Marion, VWC Marion extended a current hitting streak to eight straight games with a 7x13 week at the plate for the Marlins.  His four games were highlighted by a 4-for-4 effort, hitting for the cycle, in a 7-6 loss at Eastern Mennonite University.  He also was a leader defensively with 29 putouts.  VWC is now 23-12 and 12-6 in the ODAC.  Marion is hitting at a .315 clip, leading the Marlins with 42 RBI.
Terrence McKelvey, W&L Hit .414 (12-of-29) over seven games...scored nine runs, hit two triples, two home runs and drove in nine as W&L won three of its last four to clinch berth in ODAC Tournament...was 4-for-4 with four runs scored, three, RBI, two home runs (including the game-winner), a triple and a stolen base in the clinching 10-7 win over Guilford...was 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple and four RBI in 14-13 loss to Emory & Henry...also 2-for-4 with two RBI in10-8 loss at Hampden-Sydney

MEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ZACH THOMAS, ROANOKE COLLEGE
Thomas, a senior from Bel Aid, Maryland, scored seven goals and added five assist for 12 points in two games last week.  He scored three goals, including the goal to tie and force overtime and the game-winner, in a 14-13 win over then #5 Washington and Lee.  He also added one assist.  Thomas added four goals and four assists in a 27-8 win over Virginia Wesleyan in the regular season finale. He is the only player in Roanoke men's lacrosse history to be a part of 61 career wins and four 15-plus win seasons. He is one goal shy of fourth on the career scoring list (228 points), ranked seventh in career assists (91), fifth in career goals (138), fifth in shots (394) and second in shots on goal (214). 

Men's LacrosseHonor Roll
Daniel Dowd, GC Registered six points in Guilford's 0-2 week, including a team-high three goals in the Quakers' Apr. 18 game versus #17 Lynchburg... the game marked his team-leading sixth multiple-goal game of the year... tallied a goal and two assists in Guilford's Apr. 15 setback at Randolph-Macon... picked up two ground balls in both games.
Tyler Tolson, LC Scored five times last week with two assists as the Hornets rolled to a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference wins last week.
Rich Wilkens, R-MC R-MC senior midfielder scored the first two goals of the game, both of which were unassisted, and added another with 9:20 remaining in the fourth quarter to power the Yellow Jackets past Guilford for the 9-4 ODAC win. Wednesday's performance marks the senior's first career hat trick. He has registered 11 goals and 9 assists in 12 games this season.
Will Keigler, W&L Keigler helped lead the Generals to a 1-1 week by totaling eight goals and four assists over the two games.  In a near upset of second-ranked Roanoke on Wednesday (14-13 OT loss), Keigler tallied four goals and one assist.  He then posted four goals and three assists in an 18-10 win over Hampden-Sydney on Saturday.  For the season, Keigler leads W&L in scoring with 56 points on 31 goals and 25 assists.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
EMMY MATHEWS, WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY
Mathews, a sophomore from Baltimore, Maryland, tallied seven goals over a two-game week. In a 15-4 win over Guilford on Tuesday, Mathews notched three goals and in a 13-9 victory over Colorado College on Saturday, she recorded a game-high four goals.  She also added five ground balls and four caused turnovers on the week. 

Women's LacrosseHonor Roll
Shelly Nogueira, GC Led the Quakers in a 1-1 week with four goals, six assists, 10 points and eight draw controls... matched her career highs with eight points and four assists in the Quakers' Apr. 16 win at Sweet Briar... the contest marked her eighth multiple-goal game of the season... also scored four times and added two ground balls and two draw controls in the win... had two assists and six draw controls, both game highs, in the Quakers' loss to nationally ranked Washington and Lee.
Deanna Welsch, LC Welsch scored 11 goals last week and added four assists as the Hornets went 2-1 in the ODAC last week.
Morgan Hutchinson, R-MC Hutchinson scored 10 goals in a 1-1 week for R-MC.  In a loss to Stevenson she scored a game-high six goals to go along with five draw controls and three forced turnovers.  In a win at Sweet Briar on Saturday, she tallied four goals and an assist.
Bethany Adomanis, VWC Adomanis scored the first goal of the game for VWC in a crucial 18-11 victory over Lynchburg College, to stretch her current goal-scoring streak to a VWC record 19 consecutive games.  She scored four goals overall against the Hornets to increase her season total to a career-high 36.  Adomanis ranks second overall in scoring this season for the Marlins with 36 goals, 15 assists, and 51 points.  VWC is 8-8 overall and 5-3 in the ODAC.

SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LAUREN DUGUAY, LYNCHBURG COLLEGE
Duguay, junior from Williamsburg, Virginia, hit for a .714 batting average in a 5-1 week for the Hornets. In 14 at bats, she recorded 10 hits, five runs, two doubles, one homerun, eight RBI, and 15 total bases. She slugged 1.071% and had an on-base percentage of .667. Lauren tallied two hits in five games and also drove in one or more runs in five games. Duguay finished the conference season with a .489 batting average in 18 contests. In ODAC games, she tallied 23 hits in 47 at bats with 13 runs, four doubles, five homeruns, 22 RBI, 42 total bases, and slugged .894.

SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
ASHLEY GILLS, BRIDGEWATER COLLEGE
Gills, a junior from Cartersville, Virginia, Gills hurled two complete-game shutouts against two of the top eight teams in the Atlantic Region. Gills pitched all nine innings in a 1-0 victory against York, ranked 8th in the region. She allowed just three hits, struck out six and walked one. She blanked ODAC-leading Lynchburg on a one-hitter, losing her no-hit bid in the final inning. She struck out 10 and walked one against the #2 ranked team in the region. 

Softball Honor Roll
Kaitlyn Bowman, BC Bowman hit .385 with seven runs scored and five RBIs in eight games. She had her best game in a 3-0 victory over Lynchburg when she was 4-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, including a solo homer that broke up a scoreless tie.
Lisa Lee, EMU Lee was the Lady Royals' top offensive force this past week, going 5-for-14 with a pair of home runs and a team high six RBI.  Lee led the pitching staff with a solid 2.81 earned run average while striking out 18 batters in 16 innings.  Lee made three appearances during the week with one complete game start.  The freshman right-hander allowed five runs on 12 hits for the week and picked up a conference win against Emory & Henry College as she went the distance, striking out eight batters while allowing only two runs on four hits.
Kelly Hale, GC Helped Guilford sweep a doubleheader from Randolph-Macon in the Quakers' lone action this week... drove in the winning run of Guilford's 8-7 win in the nightcap with a one-out, walk-off double... had two hits in both games, her eighth and ninth multiple-hit games of the year... registered her team-high sixth game with at least two RBI in the nightcap... fielded all 10 chances at first base without an error.
Jessica Burcham, GC Won both games of Guilford's doubleheader sweep of Randolph-Macon in the Quakers' lone action of the week... allowed five hits and struck out 16 in 11 innings... tossed a complete-game three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts in the 3-0 opening-game win... registered her team-best sixth double-digit strikeout game and school-record fifth shutout of the season... matched the school record for wins in a season (10) with four innings of one-run relief in the nightcap... fanned four to raise her school-record total to 144
Katie Bruce, LC Bruce went 3-0 for Lynchburg with a 0.00 ERA. In 14.0 innings pitched, Bruce allowed just six hits and one walk while striking out 19 batters. Opposing hitters combined for a batting average of just .128. On Friday against Bridgewater College, Katie had one of her finest pitching performances of her career as she threw all seven innings for a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out 12 Eagles. Bruce concluded ODC play with a 1.13 ERA in conference contests and won all eight of her starts. She pitched 49.2 innings and struck out 49 batters while walking just five.
Laura Bauer, R-MC Bauer hit three homeruns in R-MC's four games this week. She also nailed a double, tallied nine RBIs in as many at-bats, and hit .666 on the week. On Thursday against Catholic, Bauer's four RBIs proved to be the difference in the Yellow Jackets' 7-3 Game One win. She hit 3-for-3 with a homerun. On Sunday, her two homeruns and five RBIs kept the score tied entering the bottom of the ninth, but the Quakers tallied a run to win the game.
Courtney Brooks, R-MC Brooks posted a 2.88 ERA in 17 innings of work this week. She appeared in three of the Yellow Jackets' four contests. In R-MC's 7-3 win against Catholic, Brooks allowed just five hits and three runs in the complete-game victory. She then started Game One against Guilford, shutting out the Quakers in all but one inning of work while allowing three runs in the fifth inning.
Brittaney Brown, VWC Brown set VWC and ODAC records with a 3-0 pitching week that improved her season record to 22-7 and her earned run average to 1.52.  She struck out a VWC and ODAC record 16 batters, and allowed just one hit, in a 7-0 win at Sweet Briar and followed that with seven more in the second game to improve her season total to 172, another VWC record and only 12 shy of tying the ODAC mark.  Brown struck out 44 batters in the four games her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season.  VWC is now 25-13 overall.
Kristy White, VWC White helped VWC to a 4-0 week hitting at a .642 clip.  Her efforts were highlighted by a 4-for-4 effort in a 7-0 victory at Sweet Briar, where she also scored three runs. She finished the twin-bill against Sweet Briar hitting 6-for-8, scoring 6 runs, and driving in three.  White leads 25-13 VWC with a .392 batting average, 40 hits, 5 triples, 22 RBI, 58 total bases and 16 stolen bases.

MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
KYLER PALUGA, LYNCHBURG COLLEGE
Paluga, a from Williamsburg, Virginia, went 3-0 in doubles action and 2-0 in the singles arena over three matches for the Hornets. Paluga helped LC to a four-match win streak over the last two weeks, which was the longest streak for a Hornet men's tennis squad since the 2003 season. Paluga has won his last five doubles outings at No. 2 doubles, while winning his last five matches in singles. On the week, Paluga earned singles wins over Guilford and Southern Virginia while posting doubles victories over Guilford, Southern Virginia and Emory & Henry. 

Men's Tennis Honor Roll
Alec Chase, GC Went 3-0 at second singles and 2-1 at first doubles in the Quakers' 1-2 week... lost 10 games in five sets... raised his team-leading singles win total to 11, a career high.
Tripp Howerin, R-MC Howerin won his singles and doubles matches on Monday against Shenandoah (4-9) to fuel the Yellow Jackets to a 5-3 victory in Winchester, Virginia. He teamed with Chris Picarde to win their match at third doubles, 8-6. In singles play, Howerin beat Shenandoah's Drew Evans 6-1, 6-2.

WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
IMEE BAUTISTA, VIRGINIA WESLEYAN COLLEGE
Bautista, a junior from Virginia Beach, Virginia, enjoyed a 3-0 swing at No. 1 singles and doubles, helping the Marlins improve to 11-2 overall and to 8-1 in the ODAC. Bautista won in straight sets against Guilford, Emory & Henry and Randolph in singles, giving up no more than three points in any set, to improve to 10-4 overall and 7-2 in the league. She teamed with Megan Crook to win 8-3 vs. Guilford, 5-0 vs. Emory & Henry, and 8-0 against Randolph, as the duo improved to 11-3 overall and to 8-1 in the league. Bautista is riding a four-match winning streak in both singles and doubles. VWC has won 9 of its last 10 matches. 

Women's Tennis Honor Roll
Mary Simpson, GC Won two of three first-singles matches and all three second-doubles contests in Guilford's 2-1 week versus league rivals... pulled out a three-set win over Roanoke's Kelsey Burke in the Quakers' 8-1 victory, Guilford's first over the Maroons since 2003... improved to 4-2 since taking over the top spot on Guilford's singles ladder.
Caitlin Clare, RAND Clare went 3-1 from her number three singles position and 2-2 in number two doubles. She helped guide the WildCats to a 3-1 week including wins over ODAC competitors Sweet Briar, Hollins and Roanoke.
Ellen Yeatman, W&L Posted a 2-1 singles mark at No. 2 and a 2-1 doubles mark playing at both No. 2 and No. 3...fell to Division I Presbyterian (6-4, 6-2) at No. 2 singles and 8-4 at No. 2 doubles....won, 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and 8-4 at No. 3 doubles against fourth-ranked Emory...won, 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 at No. 2 singles and 8-2 at No. 3 doubles in a win over Division I Wofford.
