Richter, a junior from Perkasie, Pa., threw his second straight complete game victory on Sunday as he completed his ODAC-leading fourth complete game. He allowed just one earned run and struck out 11 batters in a 9-2 win over Roanoke. The 11 strikeouts are a career high as the junior has lowered his ERA by 1.30 over his past two games. Richter finishes his season with career bests in most pitching categories. He also leads the ODAC in complete games, innings pitched and starts, and is tied for the league-lead with 58 strikeouts.
Baseball Pitcher Honor Roll
Robert Gallet, Bridgewater, Freshman
Gallet ran his record to 6-1 on the season with a
pair of victories this past week. Against Ferrum, Gallet combined
with fellow freshman Tyler Slanovec for a 4-0 shutout vs. Ferrum.
Gallet pitched six innings and allowed just two hits. In three
predetermined innings in a tune-up for the ODAC tournament, Gallet
allowed one run on four hits against Guilford.
Will James, Guilford, Sophomore
James Picked up the lone win in the Quakers’ 1-3
week… threw 5.1 innings in relief for the victory at Emory
& Henry, his team-leading and career-high fourth of the
season… came back and threw five innings against
league-leading Bridgewater and left with the lead before the Eagles
mounted an eighth-inning rally.
Kyle Pullen, Hampden-Sydney, Freshman
After Hampden-Sydney took a 7-6 loss to Roanoke and had the
second game postponed, freshman starter Kyle Pullen took the mound
and went the distance, allowing just two runs all night to help his
team to a 7-2 victory. Pullen allowed one run in both the second
and third inning – the run in the second unearned, and then
pitched the final six innings scoreless. Overall, he allowed just
six hits and two walks while striking out eight. Pullen also
allowed no base runners in three innings, and allowed no hits in
five innings.
Kyle Hicks, Randolph-Macon, Senior
Hicks went the distance in a 6-2 win at Virginia
Wesleyan on Tuesday to secure Randolph-Macon’s bid to the
2011 ODAC Baseball Tournament. The senior righty allowed just two
runs on eight hits while striking out two and walking four.
