Mark Manthe, Roanoke, Junior, 1st Base/Pitcher

Manthe, a junior from Blacksburg, Va., hit .563 (9-for-16) over the past week and provided the Maroons with the program's biggest victory in the 11-year history of the program.  With two down and the score tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Manthe clubbed a homer over the left field wall for a walk-off 3-2 win.  The homer marked his second of the season.  Roanoke went 3-1 on the week as Manthe collected three multi-hit games.  He slapped three doubles, scored five runs and drove in eight more while drawing a pair of walks.

Baseball Player Honor Roll

Devon Snow, Bridgewater, Catcher, Senior
Snow hit for a .562 average in four games to help lead the Eagles to four straight wins. Snow was 4-for-4 with two runs scored, two doubles and one RBI in a 10-9 comeback win over Messiah in the first game of a DH. In a win over Juniata he was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and one RBI. He also stole one base in each of the four games. For the week, he had a .650 on-base percentage and a .812 slugging percentage. Defensively, he threw out 60 percent (3 out of 5) base stealers.

John Macon Smith, Guilford, Sophomore, Infielder
Smith his hitting streak to nine with seven hits, including two homers, in Guilford’s 4-1 week… also had three doubles, which helped him compile a .941 slugging percentage on the week… drove in a team-high eight runs and scored four times… went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Guilford’s rain-shortened win over the Maine-Presque Isle… had two hits, including a grand slam, and five RBI in the Quakers’ 10-4 win over Southern Virginia… the homer marked his fifth in four games… he also doubled in the win… was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Guilford’s 14-4 win over Case Western Reserve, which gained a split of the Sunday doubleheader.

Erick Herrmann, Hampden-Sydney, Senior, 1st Base
Herrmann extended his hit streak to 10 games with a 3-for-5 performance in the Tigers’ 14-13 win over Moravian and a 2-for-4 outing in the 5-2 loss to Franklin & Marshall. In addition to batting .556 for the week, Herrmann scored two runs while knocking in four with a double and a triple. Against Moravian, the senior hit a key RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh to spark a three run inning to give the Tigers a late-game lead. He batted in three runs that game while scoring two. Against Franklin & Marshall, Herrmann batted in the first run of the day for the Tigers while also hitting a double. On the season, Herrmann is hitting .500 (16-of-32) with three doubles, one triple, and one homerun.

Dustin Arrowood, Lynchburg, Sophomore, 1st Base/Infielder
Arrowood went 3-3 on Saturday against Virginia University of Lynchburg, scoring two runs and registering an RBI. He has tallied an RBI in three straight games and is hitting .308 on the season.

Jordan Walton, Randolph-Macon, Senior, 1st Base/Right Field
Walton picked up eight hits in 16 at bats during the week.  He had a homerun, four runs batted in and two doubles. He had two hits in each of the Yellow Jackets four games.
