Pat Smith, Washington and Lee, Senior, Pitcher

Smith, a senior from Basking Ridge, N.J., helped the Generals to a 2-1 comeback victory over Guilford College as he fired a nine-inning complete game in Lexington on Saturday.  He allowed an unearned and just four hits in stifling the Quakers' offense.  He walked two and fanned six on the way to his first win of the campaign.  Smith lowered his earned run average to 1.67, second-best in the conference.

Baseball Pitcher Honor Roll

Kevin Chandler, Bridgewater, Senior
Chandler pitched a complete-game shutout to lead the Eagles to an 8-0 victory over ODAC rival Randolph-Macon to improve his record to 4-0 on the season. Chandler scattered seven hits in nine innings. He struck out seven and walked just two. Chandler leads the ODAC with three complete games and is tied for the conference lead in wins with four.

Casey Harlow, Eastern Mennonite, Junior
Harlow had a quality start against Lynchburg on Saturday, holding the Hornets to just one run in his 6.2 innings of work.  He struck out five and left with the game tied 1-1.  He has a 2-1 record and 3.71 ERA in 34.0 innings.  He also has 29 strikeouts, averaging 7.68 per 9 innings.

Justin Morrison, Guilford, Freshman
Morrison earned his team-leading third win of the season and first college shutout with a rain-shortened victory over Ferrum.  He held the Panthers to three hits over 5.2 innings before the game was called.  He walked one and struck out two.

Zach Whitaker, Hampden-Sydney, Freshman
Whitaker started off the week with a loss after allowing one run on two hits in an inning of work in the Tigers’ 24-3 loss to Ithaca but responded well with a complete game shutout against Emory & Henry on Saturday. Whitaker allowed just seven hits in nine innings while striking out four and walking none while improving his record to 3-1 with a 1.84 ERA. The Roanoke native is tied for third in the league in wins while his 26 strikeouts are fourth best in the ODAC.

Ryan Wood, Randolph-Macon, Senior
Wood helped lead the Jackets to a 3-1 record over the week.  He earned his first two saves of the year, closing the game in relief appearances against York and at Bridgewater.  Wood finished the week with three innings pitched, four strikeouts, and no earned runs, while allowing just two hits.
