Austin Batten, Bridgewater, Sr., Outfielder

Batten, a senior from Ruckersvile, Va., played the role of prototypical leadoff hitter in the Eagles season-opening doubleheaders split at Brevard College. Batten reached base seven times in nine plate appearances over two games, helping him to a .778 OBP. He was 5-for-7 at the dish with two RBI and a stolen base. In a 21-1 win in game one, Batten went 2-for-3 with two walks, scored twice and drove in two runs to go with a stolen base. He was 3-for-4 in a 6-5 setback in game two, scoring one time.

Baseball Player Weekly Honor Roll

Mitchell Stumpo, GC: went 5-for-15 and hit safely in all four games of GC's 1-3 week. Went 2-for-5 with five RBI in an 8-4 win over William Peace in the second of a three-game series. Had seven RBI for the week.

Thomas Powell, LC: went 5-for-6 with a walk in a split against Methodist and Averett. Was 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and a RBI in an 8-3 win over Averett.

Zach Evans, R-MC: went 3-for-7 with three RBI in a season-opening sweep of RPI. Was 2-for-4 in game one (W, 3-1) and doubled in two runs in game two (W, 5-3).

Robbie Edwards, RC: was 2-for-4 with two doubles and five RBI in a 9-1 win over Rutgers-Newark. RC lost game one, 8-6, to start the season 1-1 in a rain-shortened weekend.

Deon Hammond, VWU: was 5-for-14 and hit safely in all three games in the Marlins 2-1 showing against Ferrum. Had four doubles over the three games with three stolen bases and two RBI. Had two doubles and a stolen base in a 4-3 win in game two.

Austin Crane, W&L: went 5-for-9 with a pair of two-hit games and three RBI in a win over Southern Virginia (4-2) and a split at Greensboro. Drove in three runs in a 10-5 win over GBRO in game one of that series.
