  • Roanoke Tabs Spellane to Lead Maroons Golf Program
    June 29, 2016
    Roanoke College Director of Athletics Scott Allison announced Wednesday the hiring of Brian Spellane '00 as the Maroons new Head Golf Coach. Spellane, who graduated from Roanoke in 2000 with a degree in sociology, was a member of the Maroon golf team and following his graduation became a fixture in the Massachusetts golf community.
  • Virginia Wesleyan's Cox Wins NCAA Men's Golf Individual Medalist Honors
    May 13, 2016
    Virginia Wesleyan College sophomore Evan Cox highlighted a banner week for ODAC golfers at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships in Rochester, N.Y. Cox tied with two other players at 8-over par to force a three-golfer playoff. The ODAC Golfer of the Year birdied the eighth hole at Midvale Country Club to win the playoff and become the Marlins first men's golf national champion.
  • W&L's Freed Leads ODAC at Rain Shortened Women's Golf Championships
    May 13, 2016
    The 2016 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships saw the final round washed out halfway thru competition as heavy rains forced an early conclusion to play. Final scores reverted back to those of after the third round for all players. Washington and Lee University's Liza Freed posted the top score of the ODAC's trio, tying for 18th overall.
  • W&L's Hurst, VWC's Cox One Back of NCAA Division III Men's Golf Lead

    All six of the golfers representing ODAC schools will participate in the final two rounds of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships in Rochester, N.Y. Washington and Lee University's five-man team made the cut as the Generals sit in second place. W&L's Conley Hurst and Virginia Wesleyan College's Evan Cox are tied for second in the individual ranks.
  • W&L's Freed Leads ODAC Players at NCAA Women's Golf Championships

    Washington and Lee University sophomore Liza Freed leads the ODAC's contingent of three golfers at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships in Houston, Texas. Freed sits tied for 23rd after 36 holes at Bay Oaks Country Club.
  • W&L's Farley Wins NCAA Division III Men's Golf Elite 90 Award

    The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has announced that Washington and Lee sophomore Luke Farley (Durham, N.C. / Trinity School) is the recipient of the Elite 90 Award for the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
  • W&L, VWC's Cox Earn Entry to NCAA Men's Golf Tournament

    The ODAC will be represented by not just one team but an extra individual when the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships commence. Washington and Lee University, winner of the ODAC Tournament and the league's automatic qualifier, will be joined by Virginia Wesleyan standout Evan Cox in Rochester, N.Y., for the four-round competition.
  • BC's Herbert, Warring, W&L's Freed Selected for NCAA Golf Championships

    Three individuals will represent the ODAC in the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships set for later this month in Houston, Texas. Two will wear Bridgewater College colors as Christina Herbert and Marin Warring picked up at-large nods along with Washington and Lee University's Liza Freed.
  • Washington and Lee Hoists 13th ODAC Men's Golf Championship Trophy

    Washington and Lee University hoisted its 13th overall ODAC Men's Golf Championship trophy on Tuesday afternoon, out-pacing second-place Guilford College by 12 strokes with a three round 911. Generals trailed by seven strokes following an opening round 305, but more than made up for it with scores of 302 and 305 over the final 36 holes at Stoney Creek Golf Course at Wintergreen Resort in Nellysford, Va.
  • Bridgewater Claims First ODAC Women's Golf Title

    Bridgewater College completed a wire-to-wire run at the ODAC Women's Golf Championships to claim the program's first conference title. The Eagles carded team rounds of 331, 330 and a tournament-best 313 to register a 974 final total for a 27-stroke victory over Washington and Lee University following 54-holes of competition at the Stoney Creek Golf Course at Wintergreen Resort in Nellysford, Va.
  • VWC's Cox, Hearn Take Home ODAC Men's Golf Top Awards

    VWC secured a pair of top individual honors at the annual men's golf awards presentation at the ODAC Golf Tournament banquet as Evan Cox was tabbed the ODAC Player of the Year while Bryan Hearn earned Jack Jensen Coach of the Year accolades. H-SC first-year player Jamie Agnew was tabbed the ODAC Rookie of the Year, while W&L junior Conley Hurst picked up ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete laurels. BC senior Eli Tackett garnered Ted Keller Sportsman of the Year accolades.
  • Bridgewater Trio Headlines ODAC Women's Golf Awards

    Bridgewater garnered three major awards as part of the women's golf presentation at the annual ODAC Golf Championship banquet. Christina Herbert earned top billing as she was tabbed the ODAC Golfer of the Year in a vote the league's head coaches. Eagles' mentor John Rogers received ODAC Coach of the Year laurels, while Andrea Walker secured the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete award. Randolph-Macon's Liza Lewis earned ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades.
  • Previewing the ODAC Men's and Women's Golf Championships

    The ODAC Men's and Women's Golf Championships will be competed at a new location this weekend as Stoney Creek Golf Course in Nellysford, Va., welcomes the conference's teams to the central mountain region. Stoney Creek is one of two courses associated with Wintergreen Resort. ODAC golfers begin play on Sunday, April 24 and continue thru Tuesday, April 26 in the 54-hole championship format.

  • Guilford Tabbed Favorites in ODAC Men's Golf Preseason Poll

    Five-time defending champion Guilford College was tabbed the favorite to hoist its 16th championship trophy as the Quakers earned 77 points and seven first place votes to lead the ODAC Men's Golf Preseason Poll. Washington and Lee University picked up two top nods and 71 tallies, while Virginia Wesleyan College sits third with 61 points. Hampden-Sydney College (56 pts.) garnered the remaining first place votes from the league's head coaches.
  • ODAC Women's Golfers Ready to Challenge Nationally

    It has not taken long for ODAC women's golf to thrust itself into the national scene. Beginning with one or two national level players three-and-a-half seasons ago, ODAC women's golf currently boasts three teams ranked inside the country's top-40 and six players slotted 84th or better according to the NCAA Division III team and player rankings by Golfstat following the fall campaign.

  • Hampden-Sydney's Fockler Wins VSGA State Intercollegiate

    Rain and soggy conditions were constants at the 2015 VSGA State Intercollegiate men's golf tournament, giving the event's 12 competing teams another impediment to face at the Heritage Oaks Golf Club. Eight ODAC squads dotted the field and the results certainly showed a strong showing from the conference's contingent, led by individual medalist Austin Fockler from Hampden-Sydney.

    Success continued for Virginia Wesleyan College men's golf in its second tournament of the season, led by sophomore Evan Cox securing his second straight tournament victory. But the Marlins upped the ante at the Shenandoah Fall Invitational, winning the team title by seven strokes over NCAA Division II competitor Shepherd University.
