ODAC Golfers of the Week

ODAC Golfers of the Week

FOREST, Va. --- We close Week 30 reporting with our men's and women's golfers of the week. Weather impacted play at a couple of events, but that didn't keep Washington and Lee's Pierce Robinson and Averett's Lilli Caroline Tamburstuen from being two of several high-finishing players from ODAC schools. The Generals' and Cougars' standouts are the ODAC Men's and Women's Golfers of the Week for Wednesday, March 29.

Below are entries for each of the winners from today's release. The schedule below will be used for reporting ODAC Athletes of the Week:

  • Mondays: baseball, lacrosse, softball, tennis
  • Tuesdays: outdoor track & field
  • Wednesdays: m/w golf

MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Pierce Robinson | Washington and Lee | Sr.
Robinson, a senior from Kings Mountain, N.C., collects his third overall ODAC weekly honor of the season and first during the spring session following his play at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate hosted by Huntingdon College at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, Ala. Normally a 36-hole event, Wynlakes lost its first round of competition on Monday, but that didn't keep Robinson from matching six other competitors for medalist honors following one round on the par-72 layout set to 6,979 yards. Robinson carded a 3-under 69, starting his day on hole #5 in a "shotgun start" format. He registered five birdies against two bogeys with the latter over-par stroke coming on his 18th hole, the par-3 fourth, to leave him tied for first. Robinson's effort helped nationally 12th-ranked (by Golfstat) Washington and Lee top the 15-team leaderboard by one stroke over seventh-ranked Piedmont University at 284. Robinson is currently rated sixth in Division III by Golfstat. He owns a 71.8 average over 13 rounds of competition this year.

Averett finished at 196-over 772 (374-398) as a squad. Tamburstuen owns an 81.5 average covering 11 rounds of play this year.
