Guilford, Eastern Mennonite, Randolph-Macon Advance
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --- The 2010 NCAA Division
III Men's Basketball Tournament is down to eight teams heading
into Saturday's quarterfinals, and three belong to the ODAC.
Guilford College and Eastern Mennonite University both made it to
the quarterfinals following wins in Greensboro.
Randolph-Macon College matched their efforts with a triumph at St.
Mary's College.
Guilford and EMU's victories set up an ODAC matchup in GC's
Ragan-Brown Field House on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The winner
earns a spot in the NCAA Division III Championship Series in Salem,
Va., set to begin on Friday, March 19. Randolph-Macon meets
Franklin & Marshall College at the same time at St. Mary's.

The Quakers (29-2) defeated the College of Wooster (Ohio), 75-68,
to put them within one game of a return trip to Salem for the
national semifinals. Tyler Sanborn, the 2010 ODAC Player of
the Year, posted his 28th double-double of the season with 21
points and a career-high 23 rebounds. All-ODAC First
Team guard Clay Henson added 15 markers while second team
point guard, Rhett Bonner, chipped in 16 points. T.C.
Anderson registered 10 points.
Eastern Mennonite (25-4) found itself down early to fourth-ranked
Whitworth University, but a late first half run put the Royals in
position to grind out a 74-71 win over the Pirates. Four
players scored in double figures with All-ODAC First Teamer, Todd
Phillips, leading the way with 17 points. D.J. Hinson scored
16 points while Eli Crawford (both honorable mention All-ODAC)
notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Second teamer George Johnson dropped in 14 markers, joining Hinson
in connecting on four three-pointers.
Randolph-Macon (25-6) notched its second victory of the season over
2009 final-eight team DeSales University, posting a 68-55
win. R-MC was led by 15 points from Erich Pugh. He was
joined in double-digits by Calvin Croskey and Brandon Braxton
(All-ODAC Second Team) who each had 12. Adam Desgain and Danny
Jones had nine and eight points, respectively, off the bench for
R-MC, helping the Yellow Jackets reserves to a 23-8 edge over the
DU bench.
R-MC's opponent in the secitonal final will be Franklin &
Marshall following the Diplomats' 92-87 win over host St. Mary's
College. F&M will be looking to join Guilford in punching
its ticket to a second straight national championship series.
In other games, Brandeis University and host Williams College
(Mass.) posted wins over Rhode Island College and SUNY-IT,
respectively. In the Midwest, Illinois Wesleyan University
defeated Carthage College. IWU will face host, the University
of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, following the Pointers win over the
University of Texas-Dallas.
