    In the 10th edition of the ODAC 40 features, we head about an hour east of the ODAC office to Hampden-Sydney to talk about a historic men's basketball team. The 1998-99 Tigers made a run all the way to the national championship game and finished as the Division III runner-up after a double-overtime thriller against Wisconsin-Platteville.

    Anthony Richardson and Keith Richardson scored 19 points apiece in seventh-ranked Marietta College's 88-64 win over 23rd-ranked Guilford College in Saturday's NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament second-round game.

    Guilford College's Kyler Gregory came off the bench to lead the Quakers with 13 points as Guilford advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship with a victory over Thomas More College, 74-54, in the first round hosted by Marietta College.

    For the second straight year, the ODAC will have just one school representing its 12 playing members in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament with conference champion Guilford College carrying the ODAC banner. The Quakers learned of their early round destination early Monday afternoon as they will be traveling to Marietta, Ohio, for a four-team pod at Marietta College.

  • LC’s Burnett, GC’s Palombo Lead ODAC Men’s Basketball Awards

    The top player award in ODAC men’s basketball wears Lynchburg College colors for a second straight year as guard Zack Burnett was named Kurt Axe Memorial Player of the Year, joining Guilford College mentor Tom Palombo as the Bob Johnson Coach of the Year in leading the ODAC men’s basketball awards. Emory & Henry College guard Colin Molden earned ODAC Rookie of the Year honors, while Quakers’ guard Zachary Houston received a second straight ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award from the league’s sports information directors.

    Three ties helped dictate the placement of teams for the upcoming ODAC Men's Basketball Tournament, including whichg program would occupy the top seed. Guilford College laid claim to the postseason's #1 billing for the first time since 2009, thanks in part to winning a head-to-head tiebreaker with Randolph-Macon College.

    In the fourth installment of the ODAC 40 top moments features, we take a look back at one of the greatest game-winning moments in conference history. On January 31, 2005, Guilford sophomore guard Jordan Snipes turned a missed free throw rebound into an 86-foot prayer of a game-winner to secure a 91-89 overtime win at Randolph-Macon. Quakers head coach Tom Palombo recalls that moment and the attention it received.
  • Virginia Wesleyan Tops ODAC Men's Basketball Preseason Poll

    Virginia Wesleyan College stands atop the ODAC Men's Basketball preseason poll for the second straight season, earning eight first place votes and 117 points overall from the league's head coaches. Roanoke College sits second with 108 tallies including a pair of top nods. Guilford College earned one first place vote and collected 89 points, beginning a group from the third thru the seventh positions separated by just 19 points. Hampden-Sydney College received the remaining first place vote.
