2013-14 Men's Basketball Players of the Week

  • Charles Smith, Emory & Henry, Sr., Forward

    Smith, a senior from Fayetteville, N.C., helped the Wasps to their first two confernece wins of the season, snapping a 20-game losing skid last week. Smith was 6-of-7 from the field and hit five foul shots towards 17 points to go with seven rounds in a 78-74 win over Guilford. He added three assists to his stat line. Smith followed that with 18 points on 8-of-15 from the field in a 77-75 victory over Roanoke. He added 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. She also had a steal in his 34 minutes on the floor. Smith capped his week with 18 points and five boards with one assist in a loss (84-75) to Eastern Mennonite. Smith is currently averaging 11.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
  • David Falk, Eastern Mennonite, Jr., Center

    Falk, a junior from Madison, Va., helped the Royals to a pair of ODAC wins, including a victory over a top-25 (by D3hoops.com) for the second straight week. Falk picked up his league-leading 14th double-double in Eastern Mennonite's 73-68 home win over 21st-ranked Randolph-Macon. He was 10-of-14 from the field towards 21 points to go with a game-best 19 rebounds. He also blocked four shots. On Saturday, Falk led EMU with 19 points in a 76-69 victory over Randolph at home. He was 6-of-8 from the field, also converting 7-of-12 from the foul line. He collected seven rebounds in addition to two steals and a pair of blocked shots. For the season, Falk leads the ODAC in rebounding (13.3 rpg) and blocked shots (68). He's third in field goals shooting (61.1 %) and 11th in scoring (14.5 ppg).
  • Mike Ehilegbu, Randolph, Sr, Guard

    Ehilegbu, a senior from Raleigh, N.C., put together a strong week in which he helped lead the WildCats to a 1-1 week. In a 71-62 win over Emory & Henry, Ehilegbu poured in 28 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field that included 4-of-6 from three-point territory. In the process of notching a new career-high, he recorded his 1,000th career-point, becoming the third WildCat to reach that milestone. He chipped in four rebounds, two assists and a steal versus the Wasps. In a 65-63 buzzer-beating loss to Virginia Wesleyan, Ehilegbu against shot better than 60-percent on the way to 20 points and nine rebounds. He was 8-of-12 from the field, adding three steals and an assist. For the season, Ehilegbu is averaging 13.4 points per game. He's fourth in the ODAC with 32 steals and ninth in rebounding (6.7 rpg).
  • Daniel Eacho, Roanoke, Jr., Forward

    Eacho, a junior from North Chesterfield, Va., picks up his second weekly award after helping lead Roanoke to a pair of conference wins last week. In a 69-62 home win over Washington and Lee, Eacho notched his eighth double-double of the season with 24 points and 14 rebounds. He hit 10-of-17 shots from the field and came away with an assist. He followed that with a second 24-point effort in an 88-87 triumph at Eastern Mennonite. Eacho was 10-of-19 from the field and cashed in all four of his foul shots. He added seven rebounds and four blocked shots as the Maroons won their third ODAC game of the season. Eacho is currently second in the ODAC in rebounding (9.8 rpg) and third in scoring (18.1 ppg).
  • Andre Simon, Randolph-Macon, Sr., Forward
    January 27, 2014
    Simon, a senior from Newport News, Va., helped lead Randolph-Macon to a pair of ODAC wins and a tie atop the conference standings at 7-1. In a 78-62 triumph against Virginia Wesleyan, Simon posted 23 points and seven rebounds. He was 9-of-12 from the field and 5-of-6 from the line, chipping in two assists, two steals and a blocked shot. In R-MC's 70-57 win at Roanoke, Simon knocked down 8-of-13 shots from the field towards 18 points to with 14 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. He added an assist and a steal. Simon made 17-of-25 shots from the field (68.0%) for the week to improve his season mark to 53.7-percent, which sits ninth in the league. He's eighth in scoring at 15.7 points per game, and fifth in rebounding at 8.0 boards per contest.
  • Aaron Clark, Virginia Wesleyan, Sr., Guard

    Clark, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va., put together a pair of solid outings from the perimeter in a pair of league wins for the Marlins. In a 79-73 win over Hampden-Sydney, Clark connected on 5-of-8 from the beyond the arc as part of a career-high 21-point effort. He added three rebounds, three assists and two steals. He came back with four more three-pointers towards 12 and four assists in VWC's 84-59 triumph over Guilford, marking the first ODAC loss for the Quakers this season.
  • Avery Green, Shenandoah, Sr., Guard

    Green, a senior from Fredericksburg, Va., picks up his second weekly award after helping the Hornets to a 2-0 week that included a conference victory over Roanoke College (82-67). Green started his week with 30 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field and 11-of-12 from the foul line in a 94-82 win at Penn St.-Altoona. He also cashed in 3-of-4 from downtown. He added five rebounds and four steals to his stat line. Green followed that with 24 points at Roanoke, collecting his 1,000th career point along the way. He was 8-of-17 from the field and knocked down eight free throws. He chipped in six boards, two assists and a steal. For the season, Green leads the ODAC in scoring (24.6 ppg) and steals (27).
  • Daniel Eacho, Roanoke, Jr., Forward

    Eacho, a junior from North Chesterfield, Va., led the Maroons to a trio of wins over the past week, including two in the 2014 Dick Leftwich V-Foundation Classic. He closed 2013 with a bang, notching 28 points and 18 rebounds in an 82-74 victory over Frostburg St. He was 10-of-15 from the field and 8-of-13 from the stripe, adding two blocks to his stat line. In the first V-Foundation Classic game, Eacho registered 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting with six rebounds in a 70-61 triumph over Immaculata. He followed that 14 points and seven boards with an assist and a steal in an 80-66 win over Ursinus. He was 7-of-12 from the field in that contest. For the season, Eacho is second in the ODAC in rebounding (10.0 rpg) and third in scoring (18.0 ppg).
  • Marcus Badger, Randolph-Macon, Jr., Guard

    Badger, a junior from Plymouth Meeting, Pa., helped the Yellow Jackets to a 2-1 week on the way to being named the Most Valuable Player of the R-MC Coaches Classic. Badger averaged 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.7 steals in the three contests, which included victories over Birmingham-Southern (67-57) and Dickinson College (77-71). He had 13 points, six rebounds and three assists. He followed that with 15 points, five boards, three assists and five steals against Dickinson. Earlier in the week, he notched 18 points, six assists and two steals against Cabrini College (91-98). Badger, who shot 50-percent (16-of-32) for the week, is averaging 10.4 points per game and is third in the ODAC with 40 assists.
  • Mike Murray, Hampden-Sydney, So., Guard

    Murray, a sophomore from Norfolk, Va., helped Hampden-Sydney level its conference record at 1-1 with a 60-56 win over Randolph College. Murray poured in 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including a 4-of-7 display from beyond the arc. He also hit 4-of-5 from the line to go with three rebounds, an assist and four steals. It was his last steal that helped swing the momentum and lead to H-SC. After he hit a jumper for a 52-51 lead with 2:20 to play, he stole the ball out of a Randolph timeout and added another free to make it a two-point Tigers' lead. He made two more foul shots down the stretch towards the win. Murray averages 12.2 points per game and is fourth in the ODAC in assists (31) and three-point shooting (48.0%).
  • Marcel Crump, Eastern Mennonite, Jr., Wing

    Crump, a junior from Richmond, Va., helped the Royals to their first ODAC win of the season with an 81-79 overtime triumph at Roanoke. Crump increased his career-high for the fourth straight game, exploding for 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field and 10-of-11 from the charity stripe. His jumper with 1:01 to play in the extra frame put EMU in the lead (79-77), leading to the Royals' win in the period's final seconds. Crump also registered three rebounds with three assists and a pair of steals in 42 minutes of work. Now having scored in double figures in five straight games, Crump is averaging 15.4 points per game.
  • D.J. Woodmore, Virginia Wesleyan, Sr., Guard

    Woodmore, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va., picks up his second straight weekly honor after leading Virginia Wesleyan to two more wins and a 5-0 start to the season. Woodmore averaged 27.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals in the two contests, including a 30-point outburst in VWC's 103-68 triumph over Apprentice. He was 12-of-16 from the field and 5-of-8 from downtown on the way to the second-highest scoring total of his career. He also recorded five boards, six assists and three steals in that game. The former ODAC Player of the Year then led the Marlins to their first conference victory of the season as VWC bested Emory & Henry, 103-72. Woodmore notched 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting, which included three more makes from three-point range. He added three rebounds, three assists and a steal. Overall, Woodmore shot .700 (21-of-30) for the week. He currently is second in the ODAC in scoring (22.6 ppg).

    Woodmore, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va., helped the Marlins open the season with three victories, including a one-point win over 2013 NCAA qualifier Emory. Woodmore averaged 19.7 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting .528 from the field (19-of-36). He had 18 points, six boards, three assists and two blocks in Virginia Wesleyan's season-opening win over Salisbury (59-58) and followed that with 17 points and five rebounds in a 65-64 victory over Emory. Woodmore saved his best for last, notching a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds to go with two assists and two steals in an 88-74 win over Frostburg State.

    Green, a senior from Fredericksburg, Va., earned MVP honors at the BB&T Tip-Off Classic hosted by Shenandoah this weekend. He led the Hornets to a pair of wins and tournament title. Green put together two 29-point 6-rebound performances, shooting 63.6-percent from the field (21-of-33) overall. He was also 14-of-20 from the line and knocked down a pair of three-pointers. In an 84-77 triumph over Methodist, Green added four assists and three steals to his output. He chipped in two more dimes and pair of thefts in a 76-71 championship win over Hood. Green was limited to just nine games in 2012-13 due to injury.
