HAYDEN WHITE, Washington and Lee, Sophomore, No. 1 Singles, No. 2 Doubles

White, a sophomore from Baltimore, Md., helped the Generals to a 1-1 week with a 9-0 win over Roanoke on Tuesday and a 6-3 loss to 17th-ranked Carnegie Mellon on Saturday.  In the win over Roanoke, White notched a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles and combined with junior Brian Roberts to post an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles.  He then recorded a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles against CMU, but he and Roberts fell at No. 2 doubles, 9-7.  For the year, White has notched a 15-3 record in both singles and doubles.

Mercier won at first singles in Guilford’s lone match of the week, a loss at Emory & Henry… downed Chip Wintringham, 6-4, 6-0… dropped a narrow 9-8 decision at first doubles.
